slightly sharper throttle response, I see this more of a long term quality replacement over standard, still fitted to this day Feb 2012 with no issues. Car starts every day without fail.

improved driveability through gears and in gear pull, lot more torque low down, extremely smooth and never bogged down at low speed, instant pick up. Easier off the line than standard. Slightly better MPG, nice sporty sound and quiet off throttle, some discreet pops, super 3rd gear and manifold tunes.
Suit any driving anywhere, cross country blast or urban commute.

August 2008 Standard Car (except for Magnecor Leads)

K&N added. Slight improvement in throttle response, car appeared to breath slightly better. 'Roar' like noise when accelerating.

Powerflow cat-back added. Exhaust felt much more pressurised causing a lot of bangs and general noise! Very slight power increase.

Milltek 4-1 Manifold added. Exhaust noise changed dramatically. Pressure appeared reduced and noise changed from a chavvy boom to a more throaty and sporty sound. Increase in torque seemingly across the range. For example, car still pulls well after dropping to 30mph in 5th gear.

Eibach springs added. Improvement in handling. Cornering at higher speeds much smoother than before. Noticable difference in ride - pot holes and bumps become more apparent but this is outweighed by the handling benefit. However, due to this, I would personally not go any lower if the decrease in ride quality trend continued the lower you went.


November 2010 - Achieved 172bhp on a Rolling Road with the following performance Mods:

K&N 57i
Powerflow cat-back exhaust
Milltek 4-1 Manifold
Magnecor Leads
35mm Eibach Springs




Milltek Sports Cat fitted. Slight change to the sound and small power increase.

With entire system, acceleration on a motorway or at 70mph + on a private road produces a fair racket that isn't appreciated by the non-petrol head! Worth mentioning my car passed its MOT with this setup

60mm Throttle Body fitted. Took the car a while to adjust to this and for the revs to settle down but once it did the car appeared to breath better and revs seemed smoother.

Evolution Chips remap. Car appeared to run smoother and felt slightly nippier. Also mapped out the O2 sensor related light! Large improvement of MPG on longer, motorway (or consistantly higher speed) journies. Decrease in MPG around town.

Strut Brace fitted. Slightest improvement to handling at best.

September 2011 - Achieved 182bhp on the same rolling road as previously with the following performance Mods:

K&N filter + Piper cat back fitted late 2011. Very little noticeable performance gains, seems to rev better at 5k+ sounds incredible, totally worth it for the sound alone! Going on Rolling Road 31st o March at Jamsport, so will report back then.

Spax lowering springs fitted end of Jan 2012 with 12.5mm spacers. Corners better but also a lot bumpier! Been told by passengers that my spax are a lot harsher ride than eibach pro kit! But i prefer the look on spax as its noticeably lower!

Wind deflectors added 3bhp! Couldn't resist (pun intended).

November 2011
Started as standard.

Sportex back box added,
No noticable power gain, exhaust sound now quite deep with loud pops when letting off throttle.


December 2011
Dreamscience remap added, set to race-plus.
Instantly noticable all range power gain, felt much more responsive and pulls much harder on the bottom end, small loss of MPG all round. Sound now slightly more deep and raspy with louder pops. Raceplus removes the limiter so more attention needed to stopping spin or over-revving. The dreamscience device can also be used to run diagnostics and run status gauges, for example mine displays cylinder head temp, inlet manifold temp, coolant temp, inlet manifold pressure/vacuum, timing advance, throttle position etc...

Miltek flexi pipe added.
Small power increase, pulls slightly harder all the way through the rev range and seems to be more responsive.


January 2012
Piper cat back added, sportex back box removed.
No noticable power gain, sound is now more refined to a sporty tone, loud but not OTT pops and bangs on letting off throttle and occasionaly on upshifts, also sounds great at the top rev range.

K&N panel fitler added.
No noticable power increase but now feels slightly more responsive, also a small increase of inlet noise.


February 2012
Wind deflectors added (smoked non transparent)
Reduces wind noise greatly inside cab when windows are down a few inches, and also stops rain etc, may help increase MPG slightly for anyone who drives with their windows permenantly down on motorways. Only downside is a greater blindspot when driving at night.

Finned rear diffuser added,
No performance increase, but gives the back end more of a mean look IMO.

Just check out Fast Ford Magazine Issue: Oct 2010 for me as you can appreciate I had an extensive history of modifications and could be here all day and all night typing it up! lol

One modification I will highlight is the Quaife Limited Slip Differential. What a fantastic mod. Real grip through the corners. Much better handling and the power really gets transferred down to the road! You MR200 boys could really benefit from one!

November 2011 Mountune Stage 2 fitted

with over three years faultless performance from the Stage 1 kit, the move was made to Stage 2 185bhp.

There was a lack of quick pick up low down and in gear pull compared to Stage 1, but at 3000rpm in 3rd a very noticeable and enjoyable sudden surge of speed, beyond those revs it just keeps pulling with no let off all way to 7000rpm extended red line. When slowing down using the engine to break, the cams do grumble very quickly, so a need to change down earlier on approaches to junctions. Seemed to start up just as good as 165, need to pay more attention when starting from warm though, needs a little throttle and then come off straight away unless you want a nice big POP. Idles very nicely around 1000rpm with a feel of something more beefy from the front and rear. A lot more pops with this and always pops on the upshifts. MPG was a little worse than Stage 1 but nothing to worry too much about, the differences show more when your thrashing around regulary but on a run still returns good MPG. Also low speed driving was definitely quieter than Stage 1, seemed to be less buzz from the front of the car as perhaps the cams weren't working as hard as Stage 1, possibly little quieter cruising at above 50mph. Down the revs sounded deeper and big pops coming off throttle from high speed, sounded fantastic.
Pulled very hard in 2nd gear will just about scrape 60 in this gear.
Completely different car than Stage 1.

hi guys new to this , am thinking of getting the jamsport 185 package, when i tell my insurance online will that upgrade come under chipped/engine manement system or exhaust upgrade ,thanks

Safest Bet is to clarify everything thats in the "Kit". Mountune are the only company i know who insurance companies accept to products as a kit, whereby there is a serial number of the upgrade package ( Companies like Greenlight accept these )

I pressume the kit is induction, exhaust, 60mm tb, cams and a map?

Having just seen the kit, i'd vouch for the mountune 185 kit over that.
