Hi Guys, After getting my engine bay all tidied up and my ST lowered etc im looking at my brakes, I dont want to bother with the Front caliper upgrade (I was going to get my calipers colour coded but price was an issue) anyway as for brakes I decided not to go for grooved disks as believe these would only benefit on a track, Im looking at getting standard disks with Ferodo DS2500 pads, can anybody tell me if these are any good? and if they noticed a difference in stopping power with them, Also can someone confirm if they are good from cold, my standard pads arent the best and take abit of warming up to get biting well, which is why im looking at an upgrade, I dont want to go for the DS2500 if it means they are bad from cold and only good when hot on a track, Aslong as I hear good feedback from you guys that they are goood hot/cold then I will probably go for it

I'm on all standard factory at present but best thing I did was fit braided hoses front and back, makes a very noticeable difference and well worth the money, pedal seems to have moved up and needs less press down. much more solid feel.

Thanks for the feedback, I forgot to mention I am more than likely going to have braided hoses done the same time as the pads/disks, but my pedal feels solid anyway (but not a nice kind of solid) mostly when cold the pedal feels hard and have to press down harder and harder on it for the brakes to work, after its warmed up seems ok, basically thinking of going for Standard Ford Disks Ferodo DS2500 pads, and braided lines hoping they will be a nicer feel,

Quite pricey pads, I've never used them but would expect a big improvement The specs say they have constant friction from 20* so they won't need to be hot to work
Standard pad usually don't need heat to work though, not sure what that could be

only issue I have with ford pads is that I am guessing they soak water up, after a soaking in the rain after any period of time you have about 50% less braking power from the off, I always do a left foot drag on the pedal when I go up the road and then some hard breaking and comes back straight away.

yea the price is very high lol, its about 150 for fronts and 80 back, so hoping its worth it, I currently have mintex pads front and back, but ever since I had the car i wasnt happy with the brakes, replaced the fronts when i first got the car, and still dont think it feels as responsive as id like, Me being a numpty I bought the mintex ones off ebay for about 30 quid because people say they are good, only lately i realised the reason they were so cheap is because they are just bog standard mintex and NOT the m1144s duhhh so maybe thats why they arent too great, and ye the feel is abit on off, some days the brakes feel fine, and other days they just feel abit dull specially on mornings, I spent so much on lowering and spacers, strut brace and engine/zaust etc i just want decent brakes to finish off (and mudflaps and a short shifter for the cherry on top)

You can get EBC greenstuff for quite a bit less, and you can sometimes get them with discs as a package. I've had them on the front for about a year with no problems, been on track a few times too. I put them on the back as well last month.
