We have just been looking at trading our White ST in (its actually the missus, i have a ZS TDCi ), and the dealers are giving really poor prices on trade in, £8-8.5k for a White 55 plate with 10k miles . looking for a new one, as the missus like the newer toys, and i am gettting sick of cleaning it so were looking for a blue one instead

Got a few options, side stripes, interior pack, diamond care, but apparently no one wants the old model, especially not in white, but £4-5k depreciation in 10 months is pretty horrendous in anyones book

Parkers thinks about £9.2-9.5k part ex, and privately seem to be going for £9.5k min, most around the 10k mark, so begining to think we should sell privately? Just a hassle as its on options

Just wondered if anyone else on here had traded theirs in recently and if they are finding the same thing, maybe we should shop around some more

any ideas? any help would be appreciated

sadly trade in values of st`s are useless .ive got a new shape st on a 55 plate ,with esp/reflex pack full stripes and privacy glass just got rid of that for £9k trade in with 15500 miles. you can get brand new ones for just over £10500 so thats why used values are so poor .parkers are always over generous on there values to be honest .try looking at glass`s guide give you a more realistic figure, they think £8700,at best but dealers are always gonna mark down pre facelift models !!! look on ebay theres never any shortage of st`s lately ,and hardly ever get any decent bids on them.sadly there only worth what ppl are willing to pay for them ,the guides are just that a guide ,doesnt mean you will get what they say !!!!

I know living in France cars like this don't hold there value at all cos there not power by a tractor diesel engine. No one want them cos insurance is too high, use lots of petrol and dealer don't want them back or for a very low price they know is going to be hard for them to sell it. See lots of Peugeot GTI or RC for less 9K with only 6000 Miles for some of them even Clio RS. The only car with still a strong value even with high mileage 60000Miles is the Mini Cooper S wiith still cost 10000K! About the ST they only selling less than 400 ST a year so you don't see many for sell!

Ok,

seems i am not alone then, we bought on privilege, so we didnt pay list, far from it, but didnt realise you could get for 10.5k without the ford discount, which isnt much more than that, reatil should be like £12k + options!

looks like we might be keeping it for a bit, least till we have paid a bit more off the privilege, see if they will offere a bit more in the summer, guess a white car is harder to shift in the winter?

sadly ,having a pre facelift model its never gonna get any better mate ,dealers are doing such good deals on new ones that the used market for st`s is going down the pan .if your gonna change, change now while you can still get decent money for yours in comparison with the new shape st.least you can go to the dealer and bargain harder on a deal ,even though yours is worth a lot less than expected ,a new one should be a lot less too ,so the actual cost to change is similar .

The used car market is screwed at the moment cars have crashed in price 2nd hand not sure if this is down to new car prices dropping or not. My mate is buying a 54 reg X type (Mondingo) Jag for £8,000 its crazy. I bought a 206 brand new in january book price £11,300 Ford offered me around £5,000 Glass's guide says its worth £8,300
after reading the above does this mean White is worse colour for holding its value? hope not cuz i've got a Frozen White one waiting for me

dont think any colour is worse than any other as far as st is concerned, after all theres no nasty browns or greens available lol .the only prob with eddyesi`s one is that its the old shape st so just another reason for the dealers to try and knock down the price they want to give for it.the main reason for the st`s crash in value is that there are a few around used at the moment plus dealers are selling new ones with some very good discounts, thus effecting used prices badly the guides are only a guide ,ive had times when dealers just dont want my old car in px and offer £1500 below what the book price is

No way in fact can believe it cuz phoned dealers up to get rid of my part ex and they dont want it cuz the market is flooded. Another thing is that been told new Fiesta comes out next year and that ST Plus is on its way out so that will knock residual values once again. The joy of owning a car better buy a house

The dealer will always pull your pants down and try to shaft you with regards to the trade in price, as you have ford privilege thats where they will make their money.... Buy it off you for £8000 sell it for £10,000. If you do trade it in you will see it on the forecort for lots more than you traded it in for.

It pisses me off as there is no difference between someone buying it off you or the dealer same warranty etc yet they can get away with it.

its crazy but was told when i use to have a 206 gti that they cant give me no more for it as they have to pay VAT on it hence the difference in cost now not sure if this is down to them trying to keep me sweet and to shut me up or if it is the truth seems bit odd though. Trouble is they know people are lazy and cant be bothered to sell it private as its to much hassle so they have always got us by the short and curlys . Dont like car sales people much all talk and when you have a problem they are never there or happened to have nipped out when you want them

You only pay VAT on it once and thats when it was originally purchased.

Yeah thought this they reckon that the dealership has to pay vat on all cars they buy in as they are buying it of the customer. See all Car salespeople are full off it anything to get a sale

I'm thinking of chaning mine next year, how much do you think i'll get for a 9 month old ST, as it'll be by Jan-Feb time.

My fog-light cover is cracked too, how much will that cost to replace?
