Hi Guys - Recently got a 150 55 plate with around 80 thousand on the clock as my new daily

Loving the car for what it is

Not done much apart from single din dash to fit cd player and added a ramair induction kit and breather filter and some tailored Fiesta mats.

Air con was not working when I bought it but got that fixed under warranty from the place I bought it and the exhaust was rattling like anything - they attempted to fix this by bashing it with a mash hammer I think so its knackered getting a full toyo system delivered on Friday.

Have a few questions if anyone would be able to help?

Are these cars thirsty on oil?

Do they prefer higher ron fuel? I stuck to premium but one day filled up with normal by mistake and I swear the car was running like a dog using that fuel

After garage fixed air con and I got the car back the car seemed a tad slower than before I was crusing around in a freinds land rover while it was getting the work done so not sure if I was just use to loads of torque or not when I got the car back but it didnt feel as quick - Car still feels to pick up fine another thought is that I am losing power from the exhaust as it is bashed quite badly in some places.

Last question is revving at idle - When reving hard...ish some black smoke out the back is this normal or is it possibl the breather filter I have fitted now since fitting the induction kit?

Thanks for reading - Looking forward to having a read and nosey about here

Edit 1 - 1 other thing I forgot to ask - With the digital temp gauge how long does that usually take your cars to get to the normal mark? I always have at least 10-15 mins of normal driving before givin it a proper foot full but the temp gauge seems to hit the half way mark after a few minutes.

Hi and welcome to the site. thumbs

In answer to your questions:

1) Generally I haven't found mine to be thirsty on oil, just needed topping up a little bit between services.

2) No need to use 97RON. Not a bad idea every now and again, but they run fine on branded 95RON unleaded.

3) I haven't ever found a loss of performance when I have the air con on (although fuel consumption goes down a little). See what happens when you get the exhaust changed this week.

4) Again, somehting I've never had, but possibly down to the filter as you say?

5) The temperature gauge on mine always reaches the halfway mark within 5 minutes.

Any more questions give me a shout thumbs

Mine uses a bit of oil at sustained high revs like when bombing along the motorway or the odd track day.

My coolant temp reaches halfway after about 5 minutes, it rises sooner in this hot weather obviously. Bear in mind the oil will take a lot longer to come up to temp, like 10-15 minutes.

Funnily enough, yesterday I hit the a/c button while decelerating under engine braking and I could feel the car slow down more. I very rarely use the a/c though

welcome along, rarely top up with oil, engine from factory was set up on standard fuel, mine runs just as good if not better on shell fuel save than on VPower. Exhaust might be your smoke and loss of performance too.

Nice 1. Same here (with sports cat). they do sound sweet and really good value for money.

I think I will add the manifold and downpipe. only 140.

Nice bud I actually got the full cat back slightly cheaper for 200 or did yours include the sports cat?

Thanks will be looking into that.

Have you done anything else to yours? im looking for ideas on what to do next.

Have rear anti roll bar and springs set aside for it.

Yes 250 with cat and postage. My thinking was less messing about for mot and it sailed through a few weeks ago. No fault codes etc. I've ordered the manifold kit aswell.

I think I will just get a decent induction kit next, then stage 2 remap. Would like to slam it but too many speed bumps on my daily. I would check out the pumaspeed rear axle spacers for when you drop yours.
