At the moment, Im getting about 33MPG.. not bad! I can only ever fit about 38 litres in my tank for some reason, maybe I just never let it run low enough!

When I'm tavelling to the Jaguar plant in Castle Bromwich from Dudley I get between 26 and 28MPG which is mainly urban stop start driving and I'm not light footed!!
At the moment I'm travelling to Browns Lane, Coventry which is mainly all open roads and I'm getting 32 to 34. I really can't complain at that and I've also noticed that the car comes alive on open roads where you can let the engine breathe, round town seems to choke it up all the time.

After 4000miles i thught i would reset the average fuel trip as i thought it was reading incorrect, but 1000 miles down the line it still reads the same 35.5mpg not to bad as i don't hang about like that.

I managed 320 to a tank last week, That was a bit of motorway and some harsh acceleration! Would be good on fuel but whenever I try to drive steady my foot ends up in the carpet!

Think my computer must be wrong then, i get a maximum of 24 mpg going about 80mph, thought it seemed a bit low.

Yeah, after talking with other fellow ST ownes, I thought mine drank juice a lot more quickly, but that's probably something to do with the fact I have a lead foot ..... hehe

Mine's only got 130 miles on the clock, but have noticed a big difference in fuel consumption depending how it is driven:

In town - 15/20mpg
Motorway - 40mpg
B road - 30ish

Oh.... and my 306 D-Turbo - much much more (but not 1/2 as much fun)

Hi all. I'm new here, but I'm getting 31 - 32 mpg regularly. Its only done about 3200 miles so hardly loosened up, but it does include some driving at 5000+ rpms.

I've got the pre-facelift so don't have the computer. Anyone know how many miles i've got left after the fuel warning light comes on, driving conservatively.

Well, when I've let it get down to the fuel warning light and filled it right up, its normally took about 40 litres to fill ie. 5 litres left in the tank. Quick bit of maths shows this is slightly more than a gallon, but being conservative lets say 30 miles worth left?

As soon as light comes on you've got 50 miles left based on an average of 33mpg.
The light comes on when there's 8 litres left so just short of two gallons.
To be safe, if you're driving around town I wouldn't go over 30 miles.
One tip would be to put a gallon in your boot in a can, then re-set your trip the instant your light comes on.
Then run the car out of petrol and see just how low you can go!!!
I read on the Focus forum once that one guy had done this in his focus and got 80miles!!! before he ran out!!

It's not advisable for anyone to run their tank dry and run out of petrol... this is bad for the car.

I base my calculations on 30miles and i've ran out... prob get more than that as when the light comes on... my right foot becomes very light indeed!

Anything above 20 and then i feel it's living dangerous. 99% of the time i'll get to a pump well before i get anywhere near that.
