Most tyres dont grip well for the first 50 miles because there is a preservative on it when new. What make did you buy?

has anybody suffered any problems when changing their tyres?
I have just had all 4 changed and nearly lost control on a island, seems to have no grip, like driving on ice

When u got new tyres u have to take it easy for the first mileage same go for the brakes when u fit new pad!

i went for the gt tyres from kwik fit, done about 120 miles on them now, but still feels very nervous over 60 mph
could they be fitted wrong?
surely no matter the price tyres should be safe, even a slow car can easily do 100mph safely, i feel scared to go over 70 at the moment

For the price you paid Kwik Fit (I'm guessing £70ish each) for the GT's (I'm guessing this is a budget tyre) you could've got Pirelli's, Yokohama, BF Goodrich, Toyo etc all very good tyres.
I don't understand why people use "budget" tyres. It is the only thing keeping you in contact with the road.
The big tyre manufacturers spend millions each year in R&D on tread patterns, rubber spec etc. striving for better grip. Budget tyres are generally an immitation tread pattern produced on the cheapest available rubber. You'll probably find these tyres will last ages as the rubber will probably be a very hard compound.

ugry with u Gareth I would never buy budget tyres cos I not sure if they good or crap! Know someone who did fit budget tyres on is car and they were a nightmare, no traction on the wet or on the dry, everytime braking was hazardous and handling was very bad, but on the plus side the car did die before the tyres! cause of a crash!

Probably shows a good reason there as to why you shouldn't have budget tyres on I guess!

Got Four New Pirellis Fitted for £180 !! Why i got them so cheap is the girlfriend's mate's boyfriend works for Pirelli at Burton and has kindly gave his discount vouchers to me I would have gone with Toyos but the price was too good to turn down.
