guys on my wifes there is one thing thats bugging her and me (yes i have
drove it once... today)when you turn on the radio the volume comes on straight
away at no 5,it's getting annoying.is there any way to get in to the system to
reduce the volume or is it factory set?? funny thing is though on mine it comes
on at no 3 volume,so they must be a way of turning it down. i will dig out the
ice handbook and look, unless any of you guys can help.

I cant help im afraid but i have the exact same thing with mine. If i turn the car off with the volume under 5 it will always switch back on at 5 regardless however if i have the volume above 5 it will come on with what i left it at. not really and issue for me to be honest, im prepared for it now!

When u switch off the stereo the volume should be the same as when u turn the stereo back on but it doesn't!

While I was out just now, I tried this on mine, and no matter what setting it was on, always came back on at the same setting I'd turned it off on. Maybe this is a problem with the facelift stereos, although as far as I was aware it was still the 6006 with just a new front on it.

As far as i am aware the 6006 radio should come back on at level 5 no matter what level you had it on before switching off. I've read it somewhere possibly in the radio maunal!?! Mine does it and always has.

And i think as well in response to Chris it is a different 6006 changer. I only say this purely for the fact that apparently the fiesta was the first in the ford range to have the new 'high quality' audio systems, and because you cant have the bluetooth or MP3 connector fitted to the old 6006 changer. I may be wrong though. By the way eden, i really like the colour of you Z-S, I think it is the best colour for the fiesta and a damn shame it isn't offered on the ST in UK.

Thanks for the comment about colour. The Zetec S is the only fiesta in the range, according to my catalogue, that comes in Sea Grey. Im really glad i chose it and not black as the door detail and wing mirrors really stand out against black but they colour coordinate really well with the grey.

You are correct, it is the only one in the range available in Sea Grey, and like you say it does coordinate well. Do you not have colour coded wing mirrors? For some reason I thought they did. I would really like to drive a Z-S to see what the difference between it and the ST are. I know you postsed some pics a while back but have you got a few more you would be able to put up, including the interior as we don't have many Z-Ss on here and I dont think there is another one in your colour.

Yes, its one of the things I use to easily differentiate between the Z-S and ST, since all of the colour coded bits on the ST - the mirrors, door handles, rubbing strips, and the boot handle - are all plain black plastic on the Zetec-S, the same as on base models.

That is changing though for the lower models. The zetec climate and ghia now have colour everything as the ST does, however the Z-S still has to make do with the grey for some reason. its all on the revamped fiesta part of the ford website.

I didn't know that they were doing that now. I had always thought it a little cheap that the mk6 Z-S just had plain plastic (other than to possibly differentiate it from the ST), especially since my old mk5 1.25 Zetec had colour coded mirrors. It is good that they're moving in the right direction though.

I think it looks cheap as well. It probably costs them more to make the grey plastic than it would if they just put the colour coordinated ones on all the models. And i think in the segment of the market they are in and the intro of the new mini, new clio, new 207 and even the new swift, ford need to do a tad more to make the car a bit more up to date.

In moqt of new cars only the base model doesn't have colour code wing mirrors and door handles. That must save a few pences for Ford everytime they produce and Z-S! Can we that the Z-S is a mixed of ST for the bodykit, interior of a middle spec model and the rest of a base model. 3 car in 1!
