Right, you're gonna love some of my old cars! Bear in mind I passed my test in 1985 so I'm an old git!

I haven't had that many cars becuase I tend to hold onto them.
First: Cortina Mk4 2 litre estate! Cost me £800, depsite pranging it sold it later for £675.

Secondly another Cortina estate (a glutton for punishment) 2 litre Ghia. Lovely interior but rusted like mad

. Did alot of work on the doors, bonnet and tailgate.

Then found the hot hatch concept. This 205 was a fantastic little car and felt like a rocket compared the Cortinas!

This was about four years old when I bought it. I traded it in for:

The 309 Gti. This really was a cracking car. I bought it when it was a couple of years old. Handling was better than the 205 Gti and felt alot more solid on the road. I remember one of the car mags awarded the 309GTi 'FWD chassis of the decade' award in 1989. Unfortunately I had major problems further down the line and it cost me alot of money at only 50,000 on the clock

. Then hot hatch insurance went through the roof and I wasn't prepared to pay the money to run it.

So, I traded it in for a car that was often overlooked and yet was only gropu 10 insurance.

The Volvo 440 turbo (non cat). This was arguably the best car I've ever had and it was surprisingly quick. It gave a few boy racers a nasty shock

. I kept this car for four years. Then as I had two dogs a mate persuaded me to buy his:

Volvo 760 GLE. I can hear you laughing now! It wasn't quick but was a lovely smooth drive with the 2.8 litre auto. It was in outstanding condition considering its age but I didn't keep it for long becuase it would only do 18 mpg

.

Bought this Escort 1.8 Si instead. This was a good car despite being a bit tinny. Then I made a huge mistake and traded it in for this:

A Volvo 2.5 LPT AWD. I think it looked great. I bought it from a main dealer and it was the worst car I have ever owned. Luckily the warranty was good - £4,500 worth of work done in a year

before I had enough and traded it in for my first brand new car:

No Skoda jokes please

. Had it three and a half years and it's never gone wrong. I average over 50 mpg and it's got all the equipment you'll ever need. I've still got this one.

Plus the ST as my second car!

I've also owned a Metro diesel (yes!) and a Ford Ka as a second car.
