Thanks pinky and iceman well at the weekend me and my dad are gunna give it a really good polish because weve done a patch and its come out, god knows what it is is but i dont think it is rust because if there were breaks in the paint it would feel worse than it does

Those little pinpricks are one of the reasons I've refunded my ST. Both of them were covered in them and they turned out to be blemishes in the paint work. It almost looks as though there were bits of dust or grit on the body of the car when it was sprayed, or the paint was to thick and it bubbled and popped. They hadn't gone rusty when i got rid of the car but it was only 3 weeks old so it never had the chance. Ford tried to polish them out of my first ST but they couldn't get them out, they aodered me a new car but that was just as bad as the first. Take the car back to the dealer ship and talk to them about it?

I hate to resurrect an old thread, but I washed my mucky car today and I found these too! The whole car is covered in them. They are very rust coloured, but there is nothing that I can see physically wrong with the paint. They seem to be on top of it?! Did anyone get anywhere with finding out what they are?

Yea i took mine back to Ford yesterday after me getting them all off about a 2 weeks ago they came back, they think its just something settling on the paint. it isnt the paint braking or chipping just some annoying spots on it that budge under your finger nail.

White shows too many imperfections up, i'm just going to keep my eye on it, its probably on most cars you just cant see it

White does show a lot. I've had a few white cars and if they live outside all the time (i.e. not in the garage) you will not be available to avoid this unless they are washed pretty much evey day. These little "specs" exist on other colour paints too but they are les visible, especially on metallic paints.

Yeah they're stuck on pretty hard and they REALLY look like rust at first inspection, but they do come off pretty easily.

Weird!

As Pinky has already said, this sounds like industrial fall out.

Quite well known to Ford it affects cars more in a solid colour, cars brought into the country & left at dagenham in the compound sometimes suffer from this as there is a railway line which runs accross the back thus seding metallic particles into the air which adhere to the cars paintwork.

Ford have a fix for this which is a kind of an acid wash, not sure i'd want my new motor to have one of those though!!!.
