Yeah they fetch a lot of money if they are low milage and in genuine original condition. The one in the link above even has it's original TRX wheels which most owners replaced to be able to fit better rubber in standard dimensions - with the TRX you're stuck with Michelin! Can you give us the link for the other one then babyboom please? I'd love to have a look. Cheers

Well that's exactly the point Tony... a GTT is by no means rare while a Turbo 1 is...

meh both look too slab sided for me but i think i prefer the looks of that white GTT only my opinion though, although the silly big rear arches are kinda appealing

There both turbo but the R5 Turbo1 have more power and also its mid engine like the Clio V6!!Heard they was a massive turbo lag on the Turbo 1 and all the 160 BHP came at once and was scary to drive because it was rear wheel drive compare to the R5 GT who only have 120BHP and front wheel drive!

Yeah the GTT is defenetly a more modern look and would appeal more to young people (i.e. not me...) but they are big time different in terms of conception:

The 5 GT Turbo is front engined and had a 1.4 turbo (carburetted for the early ones) developing 125 bhp (if I'm not mistaken) and driving the front wheels (spinning them though a very approximate front suspension set up would be a more appropriate term in fact).

The Turbo (and Turbo 2) were mid-engined 2 seaters with a 1.4 Turbo (always injected - no carbs) developing 160 bhp (standard) and driving the rear wheels through a superbly engineered (dual wishbone at each corner) suspension.

Very different animals. Only the badge was the same.

Ha, babyboom beat me to it...

I'm 37 Tony... I was at the Bourton meet in August 05 with my car and then at the Rally Day meet in July 06. I originally intended to go further to Cornwall but then to cut costs I flew up instead of driving.

I don't think I'll be able to attend the Easter meet but I'll likely go to the summer meet wherever that takes place.

I'm not old Nick, neither U but do know stuff about cars as well! my room is full on books and magazine and actually prefere old car rather than new one! Old car are all different none of them feel or sound similar compared to new one where they all feel the same, sound similar and now look similar as well! I now u can find the same engine in all different cars Like for example u find the same engine in an Corsa ,Astra, Vectra, signum,a zafira which can be find in all Fiat which can be find In Lancia which can be find in a Saab!! that would have never happen in old time each car is unique and feel unique, today cars are built to last a few years, it just feel like boring plastic which doesn't have any feeling to it! I know everything is due to cost but wouldn't be nice to have a change once!

He was indeed there Tony. I'll never forget the moment when Nick asked me,

"Does it normally rain like this in England at this time of the year Kevin?"
To which i answered, "Naah, it's just a passing shower Nick, don't worry."

The rest is history. Have a look at the Summer 2006 event pics and you will see.

And also, i would like to say, from myself and my family; what a very friendly, knowledgeable and considerate person he is .
