Probably a long way off. Its not going to be unveiled until the Geneva motorshow in March, and if its comes out I'd imagine it would be quite a while after that.

Steady on chaps - it's a VAUXHALL. Every Vauxhall I've ever driven has been a dog. It might look like the dog's wotsits, but we know what to expect - a rubbery gear-shift, wallowy cornering (or rock-hard ride) and general incompetence. It'll cost about £15,000 and catch fire on your drive.

I didn't, Babyboom, but my sister did! She'd been to see a relative about 20 miles away and on the way back there was a smell...
When she got out at home she noticed a haze of smoke around the front end, then up it went! WUMPH!
I've only ever owned one Vauxhall (a little Chevette) and although it was quite nice and brisk in a straight line, it hated corners. All the others I've driven have been company cars - mainly Cavaliers and Vectras - and they were all hateful things.

Not a fan of Vauxhalls, though when I first I saw it I was actually impressed. Far too much power for a car that size in my opinion, you'll have trouble putting all that power down, and it's bound to Torque-steer like hell, and understeer like crazy, like most powerful Vauxhalls. It's a shame Ford never went through with the RS, as they're being left behind.

Maybe Ford are waiting for alot of write-offs and accidents to happen with these hugely powerful, and small, cars from other brands. I think Ford are wary of that happening and don't want to go bhp-crazy with cars that are most likely to be bought by young drivers. They do emphasise safety with all their car press releases, I notice, more so than other car companies. And it's pretty crazy how powerful these super-minis and hot-hatches are becoming. Where do you draw the line???

According to Vauxhall the Corsa VXR will be £15495 a tad cheaper than the Clio 197, but alot more expensive than the ST!!!!.

For me i think the VXR has been launched at just the right time, Ford's ST is looking very outdated (yes i own a 56 plate one) & seriously underpowered!!! the Clio 197 just doesn't look like a car with 197 BHP far too standard looking.

Vauxhall have made the VXR visually stunning & thrown in a nice set of performance figures too, i only hope they've worked on the handling capabilities!!!.

I'll be taking a test drive in March, i hope Ford get their arse into gear & give us what we want!!!. MORE POWER!!!!!

so you own a 56 reg st and you think its outdated and underpowered, why did you buy one and can i ask how long have you owned your st.a suggestion would be to get a good pair of glasses cos i my eyes ford have a good performance hot hatch, competativly priced, with good looks,at least thats my opinion anyway.i could have spent £16000 on a 197 yes it looks a tad standard but instead i saved over £5000 and bought a st.
