Does anyone know if a Focus engine fits in the Fiesta bay?

And if it does has it been done?

Tony

Jam Sport and Pumabuild offer the 2.3L Duratec engine swap. Don't know about the Focus ST lump fitting though.

Nice - I guess it's just a bored and stroked version of the 2 litre, or at least a close approximation if it weighs the same and is a straight swap.

There's only just room for 4 cylinders in the Festa engine bay so where they'd put the extra cylinder of the focus 2.5 ST engine I can't imagine.

*aHEM* .... echo... echo...! Hello? As far as I know it a 2.3L engine not a bored out 2L. Imo I doubt the Focus ST engine will fit. The 2.3L eninge does *just* as its only a tiny bit taller.

with a little bit of chopping and welding anything could be possible, but why the sudden change i thought you were seriously considering selling it? and you definantly loose your warranty then

LOL no i wouldnt lose my warranty its a ford engine in a ford car

Just when you go hacking the exhaust to bit and fitting induction kits it seems to brake things eh adam

Was just wondering cos id love to put the time/effort and money into having a Fiesta with a 2.5l turbo engine would put A-pillar gauges on it from the Focus dash and a MAHHHOSIVE dump valve everything would be very... err different

Anyway im not selling her now could never part with her

But there old engines whereas a Focus engine would be nearly new to match the car its going in no point putting a really old engine in a new car

Just whack a Turbo on the standard ST engine you already have. You'll still get the opportunity to fit your "MAHHHOSIVE dump valve" and there surely is already a kit available which would cost less than an entire engine swap.

You'd be in for major mods to fit a Cosworth engine to the Fiesta as the YB engine is designed for longitudinal fitting so turning it around 90 degrees to fit the Fiesta box would be a hell of a job. Alternatively you could simply fit it lengthwise complete with the cossie box but again you'd be in for major mods and probably at making it RWD...

I really don't think you'd get the T5 engine to fit the Fiesta engine bay as it's too long.
Though, as said, anything is poss with a hammer and a mig welder.
I used to have a friend who had a MKII Escort with a capri 3.0 V6 engine in!!

If you're desperate to depleat your bank balance and have a fixation on replacing clutches, gearboxes and driveshafts then you may want to consider shuvving in the lump out of a Mazda 6 MPS.
It's the 2.3 version of our Duratec (so it's a 4cyl) and it's turbo'd.
Should connect straight up to your gearbox (for a while) but you would have to get the Mazda's ECU wired in to run it properly.
You should push about 250 BHP in standard form and 300 -350 torque, don't quote me though, It may be more.
A limited slip diff will not prevent the gearbox from exploding with the torque so don't waste your money.
I would have the ECU mapped so you get a reduction in torque on 1st and 2nd gears, that should make it last a bit longer

Or buy a better car!!
