Yeah, I'm not a fan of the cap retention thingy.... the cap hangs on the body work! I can't even remember what car it was, but I was impressed with the system than allows the cap to rest in a cup on the fuel filler cover.

With regard to buying Ford oil and BP fuel, do as you please but I'm filling up with whatever fuel is cheapest and topping up with Tesco value 10 40 . Seriously, don't skimp on oil but don't feel that ford oil is the only option.

Now.... best go and check my oil levels.... just covered the 2000miles mark the other day!

volkswagon golf has good idea the filler cap has a cut out so you can slide it on to the flap so it does not catch the car.

My Astra Sport had a clip for the cap. I've found if I open the fiesta fuel flap with the key then relock when it's open, the plastic wire can be hooked over the tongue of the lock on the flap, thus holding the cap away from the car.

As the good book says, if it complies with the Ford Spec it should be ok for changes.

The new Focus has the same system *apart* from the fact that there is a little hook on the back of the flap for holding the plastic wire on....I wonder if this little hook could be fitted onto the STs flap????

Must get my son to investigate....or better still, wait till I get a Focus pool car at work and borrow the hook...ahem...

Wow noever thought of that... that's really smart.. it does annoy me how the cap just dangles down against the bodywork... I've actually thought about removing the plastic retainer and just rest the cap annywhere away from the car...

Regarding what oil/fuel to use, I thought Ford recommended BP Ultimate/Castrol, as used by Ford Rally Team.
