I'm excited to soon be the proud owner of a fiesta ST. Can anyone give me any pointers on what sort of price i should be paying for a low mileage face lift ST (06 onwards i believe). Also, having been a saxo vts owner along with a mate of mine, we were wondering how the two cars compare on performance. Any feedback would be much appreciated, Look forward to hearing from you, Cheers guys, Joe.
Firstly may i start with apologising for the Retard comment. I went over the top!
However, if you read Budden's first post, he was merely asking how they compared performance-wise. Then because most people came to the decision that they are pretty equal in a straight line it came down to a discussion of handling.
Then someone started slating how "bad" a saxo was as a car. That's harsh tbh. I haven't slagged an ST off, all i have said is about handling comparison. So when i try to put someone in their place, i'm the one in the wrong? I agree i shouldn't have resulted to childish insults, my bad. But seriously, why slag off my car when all i wanted to know was how the Saxo would stand up to the ST on the track?

I have no problem with any ST owners, and i mean that, but i can't help the feeling that some of you have a problem with me. I hope this isn't the case!
Anyway back to the discussion.. Tbh i think alot of this discussion comes down to the driving experience cars give.
Without being patronising, most "proper" drivers prefer cars that oversteer slightly if pushed over the limit. This is why the RenaultSport Clio and the Saxo VTS are legendary cars for handling. I hope the St goes the same way!

Here's a little joke to cheer you all up. What do you call a Saxo with three chavs in falling off a cliff? A Shame, Saxos hold five !!!!! B-bum

I will be damn straight with you right now...
When ever anyone joins up asking "power", "can I beat this", "how fast can I go in it"... then their friend also joins. You can fully appreciate it straight away gives the impression that your a street racer and all you want the car for is to race people...
Well...
If you want to race people, buy a 200sx or better still an Evo 8...
If you want a car for a certain specification that will be a joy to drive, both normally and also when you want to have a bit of fun then get yourself an
You wanted to compare it against a saxo so you have to allow for the wider argument which obviously involves other aspects.
Seriously, don't take things so personally, lighten up... if you want a debate, allow for negative comments also.
It's ALWAYS going to be a hot debate when you bring a similar car into the equation.
If you want to know more then get some posts up, there is loads of helpful people on here and note that we have no problem with you, and I hope you wouldn't with any of the members on here.
It's all about enjoying and make sure you do that
Thanks

My great, late friend, Andy had a Saxo VTS. It was modified with around 150bhp, lowered e.t.c. Sure, in terms of interior, it was way behind any modern hothatch, hell, my ST is way behind the current model! That's the way it goes. The thing with cars like Fiestas and Saxos and Pugs, is that they have alot of almost nostalgic value to their owners. Enthusiasts who own these kinds of cars, really do have a love affair of sorts. It doesn't even matter which car outhandles or outpowers the other, if you are a PUG enthusiast or a SAXO enthusiast, you are always going to prefer that car to it's closest rivals. As somebody said, it's personal preference. My mate Andy, God rest his soul, had a great little car that had alot of power. The handling was good, not as good as my ST, but that could be down to the modifications he made i.e. the extra 20 horsies! I'd never slag his car off because he loved it, but at the same time, you don't see me on Saxo Enthusiast Forums harping on about how my ST has similar or better performance specs than their flagship VTS! I think VTRs and VTSs are cool little hothatches, they look awesome lowered with a set of meaty wheels on them. They have good performance specs, especially for their time. However, I much prefer the ST. And this is taking into account that I know how these cars handle, from first hand experience. Not much in it, but there is a difference. As far as interior and ride comfort go e.t.c, there is miles between them, obviously, because of the time difference. Here was his pride and joy... I said I was going to smoke him with my ST, but never got the chance!
