Morning Hugh - I agree with your comments, the STi is a bit more hardcore, the WRX is more practical for an every day car and it is still quick but looks more understated than the STi (some people prefer this others not).

I have done 2 track days in my Impreza, one at Cadwell Park and the other at Oulton Park. Awesome fun I am not a racing driver by any stretch of the imagination, just went fast for me.....got overtaken by a stack of Caterhams. Had a couple of blasts against Lotus Elise's, blew them away on the straight but they were crawling all over me through the bends. Although the scoob handles great it's surprising how soft they feel when you put them on a track!

I am planning to take the Fiesta ST on a track as I reckon it will still be quick enough to have some fun with and should be good through the bends - What do you think?

Sorry for hijacking this thread by the way!!

Morning! The ST is unbelieveable through the bends, I had this demonstarted to me on Friday night! When it drifts it does it so neutrally. Also I am not adversed to being driven quickly particularly by the driver in question but this time I was very unsure, that was until the manouvre was completed! It is an excellent car which is why it is quicker round bends than the Clio 182.

I would think going from a Scooby to the ST will be quite tricky for you, you'll need to work the engine a lot harder to get the sort of pace you're used to. That can be a lot of fun though! Through the bends though I think you'll have more fun, a powerslide in a Scooby is a lot harder to control that the drift of the ST. I am hopeful you won't regret it.

Sounds great, can't wait!!

The thing with the scoob when driving locally is that you can't use it's full power anyway as you catch other people up as soon as you put your foot down.

For the last week I have been driving round in the wife's 1995 Fiesta 1.6Si..... still managed to have fun in this

hmmm on my 5th tank now having been dissapointed that driving sensibley has been returning only 28 - 32 mpg! So i thought bollox to it and will thrash it about some with hard accelerating, and going mostly 80 - 110 mph motorway speeds..... and amazingly i got 30 mpg (300miles to the tank)!!!

The moral of the story is the ST is a performance car - its so much more rewarding to drive it like one than to fanny around watchin the fuel gauge! Driving it sensibly for some reason dont seem to drasticaly improve fuel consumption! Best of to give it some right foot its great !

Yep, given up messing around & just drove it normally; my FC has gone down to about 30mpg too, so am reasonably happy with that.

I use 10litres per 100Km,and I,m not hanging about. If I wanted more I could keep the revs under 3000 and get maybe 8 0r 8.5 per 100k.But I didn,t buy it to go slow in.Things have got better as the cars got looser but not a lot.As for the neutral handling spot on also in a car like this if you do end up drifting wide a healthy dose of gas gets it pointing the right way.I´ve also found that when the back does break away opposite lock makes it tuck it,s arse in again so sharpley I thought someone had shunted me.
P.s Best to try this on your favorite roundabout

I've just used my first tank of fuel and managed 25mpg. Although I should be running in I have been warming the engine gently but I have been revving upto 5000rpm for very short periods and not very often.

Has anyone noticed if consumption goes up as the engine loosens up??

Had mine nearly 4 weeks now. I have done just over 1300 miles and my average has been about 30mpg. At the start I was driving gently but now a little more spirited but as the engine has loosened up a bit it seems to have balanced things out and consumption has been about the same.

Nearly ran out of petrol on way home tonight in her SportKa, was taking the pee managed to get 336 mile's out of a tank, must have been running on vapour. My point they all get better, when she picked it up she only got 185 mile's out of the first tank.

I was trying to do the "see how far I get on my first full tank" and I got down to the last bar on the fuel gauge but I was driving round a part of London I didnt know so I filled her up at the first petrol garage I came to. I think all in all I did about 265 on my first tank. Must have been a lot because most of that day was sat still in traffic jams. God bless London traffic jams
