It'll be close. I reckon any difference in the cars' performance would be overshadowed by the drivers' skill and experience. Either way, the ST is one hell of a car and I'm looking forward to picking mine up in March.

Hi, I'm a new user to the forum, and am Budden's mate. I own a VTS, and have never driven an ST but i know they're solid cars.
However, i do think one or two people are underestimating the handling capabilities of the Saxo. Remember this car is 935kg in weight, it is extremely well balanced and nibble through corners. Jeremy Clarkson hailed the VTS as the 2nd best handling car in the world, infront of a lotus elise S1. Granted this was in 1998, but it was against such cars as ferrari 355, 550, porsce carrera, skyline r33, mitso 3000gt, bmw M3, etc etc.
On that note, i would like to say i understand the ST is also a very well balanced car, with a great suspension setup and solid chassis. It is also probably slightly stiffer than the saxo.
My conclusion is that i fail to see how a well set up car of nearly 1200kg can "leave a VTS standing" in corners which is also well set up and also 935kg. The VTS is bound to change direction just as quick if not quicker!
Still i do like ST's though!

yeah, we're comparing it to a saxo VTS! Unfortunately the C2 isn't up to much!

Saxo: 120bhp @ 6600rpm 935kg 128bhp/tonne Fiesta: 147bhp @ ? < one of you guys could enlighten me on this! 1165kg (facelift) 126bhp/tonne I have had many a play with ST's before, and I can safely say from a rolling start, there is literally NOTHING in it upto silly speeds (from my experience), and I really mean nothing! I would honestly think they would be neck and neck up to 120mph at which point the saxo changes to 5th and I reckon the ST would probably start to creep away. On corners with identical drivers I'm not sure. Because from my experience the ST looks stiffer on corners meaning it would have more pressure on the inside wheels than the saxo, increasing grip, but because the saxo is 250kg lighter, the saxo would corner just as quick. A stiffened saxo vs a stiffened ST however, that would be a different story
