Bell, Elephant and Admiral are all the same company, but you sometimes will get different quotes, and I've found not always from the same one each year.

Kevin, I tried Norwich Union this year and found they quoted me £2500, £1800 more than with Elephant who I've got mine with now.

Norwich Union always seem to be amazingly expensive every time I've had them quote, not just on the ST.

No you dont need to insure with Ford, might as well take the 7 days, saves you not having to rush around before you pick the car up

yeh they are the same parent company but that does not mean they will all give the same quotes as they all have varying risk assessment, and will quote you on that basis.

i am currently with tescos who are underwritten by uk insure - loads of companies are undwritten by uk insure. furthermore, norwich union and the post office are underwritten by the same people but that didnt stop my cousin saving over £200 with the post office.

The ford 7 days allows the dealer to tax your car - but beware I think the excess is quite high and wont protect any no calims, remember the ST Focus owner who had his car 15mins after driving off the forecourt a couple of weeks ago (dont know them personally - but it made the national news, because they had just waited 6 months to collect it).
Also worth checking things like quidco and greasypalm as they give cash back when purchases made with some insurance companies off the net (especially when your buying from them anyway)

Jesus Christ, was there much damage to it do you know? They must have been totally gutted to have an accident so soon if they'd waited so long!!

not quite sure exactly how much mine is going to be atm. I changed over this morning and the guy said no additional charge (i've only got 2 months left, and was already insured on my ST170 which I think was group 15 or 16) - was £600 a year.

I did the same thing though with the Ford Insure (after dealer request). I'm 27, 9 years no claims and it came out at £930! So I thanked him for his time and the 7 days, but explained mine was going to be at least £300 cheaper hehe!

I have a similar problem. I've got insurance on my current car until January 2008, but my ST should be delivered mid-March (dont have an exact date yet).

After speaking to my current insurers they advised me to cancel my policy, and they'll give me a refund for the remaining months of the policy minus an admin fee, then I'll simply setup a new one (although I'll be using a different insurer for my new policy with my ST as the price with More Than is too expensive for me!)

Well I have just spoken to my current insurers over here in germany and they have told me that I have 4 years no claims discount, where I thought I had 3. So insurance with elephant is eveen cheaper than i thought. the problem is that with 4yrs ncb you are eligible for protected no claims but only if you are over 21. i am 21 in june so im not able to protect which is really irritating!
