Just ordered a new ST, will it come with an ipod connection socket?

Also am I right in saying that if it does come with a connection socket, I just buy a cable that plugs into the socket and into my ipod?

Not sure mate i know that Ford have taken the option off but think all Fiestas will be having it standard from either march or april builds. If you havent got it its no bigy cuz you can order it from ford for about £8 and connects to back of your stereo then need to drill a small hole in the surround around the gear stick. No you need to buy the other cable but most places sell them and again its a very cheap item to purchase

I bought the cable from Halfords on Saturday, it goes into the MP3 connection next to the gearstick and straight into your ipod only cost £4 I think so not expensive at all

The ST doesn't come with one standard, its an optional extra which costs £20.

It's standard fit on all Fiestas from 2007.25 model year, so if it's built to order it will have one.
If it's old stock it won't but they're easy to convert.

It's only just been built, it's not even in the country yet.

If I do have to fit it, Will I be able to have it in my glove box? I'm not a very hands on person, me drilling my centre console is not a good idea!

My 07 didnt have it. How easy is it to fit? Im assuming you have to take the radio out and route the cable through all the plastic area around the gear stick. Is there a step by step guide anywhere?

with regards the Ipod socket, you may not actually get one on your 07 ST unless you have requested it... mine is an extra on my 56 plate ST!!!

How much are the fold away mirrors?

No wouldnt have thought so cuz the mirrors run on a different system as well as the auto lights and wipers if they could do it would cost a fortune to do so. I had this option on my car and was the best £200 i spent

Its probably best to remove the unit and believe me its a pain to remove. But to be fair i was using autoleads own keys and not the official Ford ones. having looked on back of my stereo you really need to take it out

Has anyone got their ipod lead in the glove box?

I really don't fancy drilling my car to bits.

no probs
You have only got to drill a small hole in the console surrounding the gear stick and worse come to worse its only a small panel that can be easily removed and replaced very cheap. This is where ford install it from the factory as well.
My brother has done it to his and you would never know he put it in his self

If you have the ipod connection fitted when built it will be near the gear stick i think? I have had it recently fitted by dealer and its in the glove box. There was no problems putting it there and they charged me £20

I didn't go for the Aux in option becasue I don't like the idea of having wires hanging around near the gearstick. I'm looking to fit the cable loose into the glove box when I get a chance. Neater solution IMO and prevents people looking in, seeing a connector and smashing your window to have a look whats in the glove box.

^ if you manage to do that steve can you let us know, i'm the same tbh I do want to fit it, but i don't wanna have wires hanging around the dash. I did see a picture of someone who had fit the cable into that little drop down tray to the right of the steering wheel - although I dont think my Video IPOD would fit in that.

Hi all, picking my new car (well 06) up tomorrow and i will really be needing to have my ipod in the car at all times so this thread has been great to read, but one question(may be two)and even the dealer cant answer it.
Can you work your ipod from the controls on the wheel or is that why you have to keep the ipod in the tray below the radio and drill all round near the gear stick to keep your ipod at arms lenth to work it? and also what amount of the ipod can you work if it can work from the wheel controls, because some other cars with ipod connection only play playlists so you cant just scroll though the ipod and pick any album?

Thanks for any answers/reply

Dex...........Peace............

No you cannot use the wheel controls only for radio, the i-pod connection is merely an extension from tthe rear plug of the stereo , you can buy a cupholder type thing that has a support for the i-pod , most i-pod retailers have got them.

They will probably say that it won't go into the glovebox but it will. They just need to leave some slack to allow the glove box to open without pulling the connection. Mines fitted in the left hand corner at the top of the glove box. Be warned though....Ford dealers charges do vary alot! Mine are really good(shock horror!). Anyhow, it's only £20 to have it as a factory fitted option so they shouldn't charge you too much.

Factory fitted prices are cheaper because the cars ready and waiting in the bay hence £20.
To book your car into a dealer will cost you by the hour labour charge about £40 odd i think give or take. You could try altering the order for fitted mp3 socket before delivery is taken

Chuck could alter the order fiestaman but he wants the connection in the glove box which they won't do as a factory option. My dealer did it for £20 which is a very good price but then I have been using them for years.

Just been to the Ford garage and the sales guy I have been dealing with isn't there. So I decided to nip around the back to see if my car has arrived as it's supposed to be delivered on Monday.

To my surprise, there is a naked performance blue ST with full leather there.

Hopefully, it's mine but the car has the Ipod connection fitted, which I didn't order. (The car was already built though when I ordered.)

So after all my moaning and questions you have had to put up with over the last week and abit have been wasted.

....but I now have an mp3 socket/cable available and head unit removal pins for sale if any body is interested.
