before i brought my st i owned a focus 1.8 zetec, had it lowerd by 50mm on gmax shocks and springs. gotta say it was the worst thing i ever did. lol it looked good and handled good but jeezus any bump in the road felt like the car had fallen 20ffet out of the sky, has any one had there st lowerd and does it feel simular to how my focus was? thinking of getting a 35mm drop but dont want the same probs oh and any slight bumps made the bloody cd player skip and jump. any good brands any one know of that still offer a good lowerd ride quality?

The ST does look good lowered but no matter how good the springs are you comprise the comfort, you will feel everything on the road.

All down to personal taste at the end of the day.

Personally I wouldn't bother as the ride is tough anyway but I'm sure there are guys 'n' gals on here who will disagree with me.

It's all down to personal prefrence. If you can put up with the harder ride you got nothing to loose. i know on the zs it isn't to much harder.( don't know about the But hit 2 bumps( big potholes) today and they made the cd player skip and the abs kick in when i touched the brakes.

have my car lower and don't feel much different when driving at normal speed but when u trash through corner handling is better have to say has for comfort don't feel that bad at all! as for bumps and other don't have problems at all!

that's the problem right there, u need to spend more and go for better quality products to get the best compromise of ride and handling!

My last car was a ford focus zetec. I bought it at just over a year & a half old with 13k miles. It already had a set of g-max springs fitted at 12k miles.

To begin with the ride quality felt smooth & so much better than the car i had before which was also a ford focus. However at around 25-30k miles i felt the quality of ride was getting poorer. The suspension clattered a bit over bumps & small potholes. Even on a smooth road in a straight line it felt like it was swaying up & down on the road like a see-saw.

Therefore my conclusion was that the aftermarket lowering springs fitted to my focus were only good for around 10k miles or so. Perhaps the fault was that it still had the origional shock absorbers fitted & they couldnt cope with the tougher coil springs.

At the end of the day i dont really know & having now had my little fiesta st for 3 months i dont think i would upgrade the suspension on it as it handles so well & i wouldnt want to jeopardise the ride quality.

yeah, pretty much the way I feel about it. they do look great lowered, and im sure if you spend a good chunk of change on new shocks/springs it'll be fine, but i'm really unsure about just changing the springs personally.
