Hello!

I've been following peoples ups and downs with there cars on this (cracking) site for a while now and thought it was time I joined! I also thought some people might want a Ford Dealers perspective on some issues raised with there new cars and experiences with Ford, any new product news, production changes, updates and offers. I own a Retail Ford Dealership in North Manchester (Kempster Ford) so I am in a fortunate position to test and run almost any Ford car, I've had 3 ST170's, a Mondeo ST220 and ST TDCI and I am currently running a Fiesta ST in Colorado Red with side stripes and the interior pack. (Does this qualify me for a little green 'O'???!)
I would love to hear peoples feedback on their cars and their dealership experiences - and if ther's any thing I can help with I can.
Thanks,

Ian

Hey Ian This is a really useful POV to have thanks for joining.

My question is this: Why is it when I ordered my car on 24th January I am having to wait til 2nd April (its only an estimated delivery date so I'm expecting it to be delayed further!) and yet some that ordered theirs in early/mid February, the same spec and colour have got theirs early March? My build date was changed from 3rd March to 10th (luckily it was built then) & this has made the delay worse. I know poor Hallmark & Phyzzo are waiting even longer. Hallmark ordered his the same time as I did and Phyzzo ordered his in November!!! Whats the delay? Why do some people get theirs sooner?

OK,
Your car looks to be a full factory order. By that I mean you dealer couldn't amend an existing Fiesta order already in the bank at the time of your order, so they had to wait for the next batch of ST's to be build at the factory. The build schedule goes something like this, for example:
January 1-10 Only Fiesta Finesse are built
11-15 Only Zetec and Zetec A/C
16-25 Only LX and Ghia
26-30 ST
Also, the demand for this car has taken everyone by surprise. It was expected to be popular but not by this much so, unfortunately, the waiting is inevitable. At least you know its not been sat in a field for 12 months before you drive it.
2nd of April is the maximum delivery time, you should get it sometime in the week before that.
As for Phyzzo's order, I'm stumped! I can't understand how his car is taking so long. Even with every option added it should take nearly 5 months to build a Fiesta!
I hope this helps and that I haven't missed anything!

My thoughts exactly, but they think its due to full leather & sunroof, have you seen a car with leather & sunroof?

No, I haven't seen one with full leather and a sunroof but that shouldn't matter. There is a build schedule for each month of the year (except August when the plants shut down for holidays ) so if you ordered in November, the latest you should have expected a build date was January, then roughly 4 weeks from build the car shold be delivered to your dealer. Do you have a chassis number or anything that your dealer has given you? Its a strange one I'm afraid!
A Fiesta shouldn't take nearly 6 months to arrive.

Hi Ian, good to get some feedback from someone with inside knowledge.

I have to say, the dealer I used...GK Ford in Mansfield were very good. I was considering white with full stripes or red, but they explained the waiting time that I would have. I then saw a Performance Blue one and immediately loved it. Fortunately they had one of these in so I decidd to go for it.

Had it nearly 3 weeks now, just over 1000 miles done and enjoyed them all. Spoke to my dealer sevice department yesterday to ask about booking it in for the 1500 mile check. They said just ring them the day beofre I want to take it in and they will do it while I wait. Seems good to me.

Fair enough, well just check everything urself... Oil, Power Steering, Brake Fluid, Fill your washer bottle up, check tyre pressures. Check everythings working and sounding the way it should... that should just about cover it!!!

Worth a little scout round with it being new.

I see you have the anwer to the question already. As I understand it the 1500 mile check up is at the discretion of the dealer as to whether they want to offer it or not. It is not a Ford requirement. As my dealer offered it I thought I might as well have it done.

That's what the warranty is there for! I never lift the bonnet. If it breaks then they can blimming fix it and there is no chance of them blaming me. I do check my tyre pressures though.

Hi Guys,

Whats the general reaction to the dealers when you mention sites like broadspeed etc, have you had good deals? or have they laughed at you and asked you to leave?

Thanks for reading

Most start blathering about grey imports, differing specs or not being shown as the first keeper of the vehicle on the V5. The last bit is true from some of the cheaper suppliers, but if you are saving say a grand off RRP will it cost you that in it's value when it comes to trade in time? At the end of the day the number of owners shouldn't effect the value of a vehicle, but it is used against you to beat the price down with regardless.

Some suppliers though actually are main dealers, on the Civic Type-R there are some good deals to be had from what is actually a Honda Dealer in Solihull.

That's re-assuring to read. I like the cars but can never be arsed to get under the bonnet and tinker away with it. Always then makes me feel a little guilty that I'm neglecting the car, and particularly moreso when I get the ST, but if others don't as well that cheers me!
