I just noticed the front badge chrome surround has started to get white spots in it. It looks like the water is getting between the plastic coating and the chrome surface. The rear badge looks like it could be starting too.

The dealer says it's only got a 1 year warranty because it's part of the trim.

So those of you with cars less than a year old get out there and check for the dreaded white spot.

Typical Ford - can't even get their own badge right

don't it just come off? i noticed when i took off my grill it had 2 "tongs" poking through with a washer holding them in place.

i still remember the old ford badges used to be able to wet and dry off the blue and spray them whatever colour you want.. i'm guessing you can't do it on the new ones

/edit

my old XR2 with its black ford badge.

You cant buy the badge seperately, you can only buy it as part of the whole thing. Its something to do with the fact its all so many % bigger than normal badges.

Yeah, that's the problem, though it hasn't got to the blue centre yet. It looks like yours is caused by stone chips, Pinky.

What I need is someone nearby with a less than 1 yr old car who will swap badges/grills and then get a new one under warranty...

Ford customer assistance may help in getting you a new badge under warranty.
I got new front fog lamps for my old Focus Collection at 35 months old because they had "smoked" up inside, so it's worth a try

Eventually it becomes a dull chrome looking badge. Surely you've seen cars driving about with them? My mates KA has the same problem and thats an 03 so I don't know why ford have'nt got their act together with this.

Yes mines fine on the front, but the rear one has the little markings around the edge. Ford will have made it awkward to change, and an awkward size, in order to make it more expensive to replace I'd guess.

Pop into Ford commercial,I think the ones off the transit vans etc. badges are the same size as ST ones.

I didn't either, I thought I'd heard before that they were a unique size badge.

I have the same problem, I thought it was the pigeons crapping on my car tho.

I have ordered two black ones from DMB after speaking to cron and they should be here any day now.

Will post some pics provided I can get the old ones off.

Hi Cron

had the badges although they were not raised so I ended up with the wrong size.

Might order bigger to fit the whole fully although need to think of a way to stop thieving gits nicking them as they are stick on - super glue maybe.

Wuth fraud cost cutting events i wouldnt have thought they would supply a badge solely for the fiesta and have all others a different size, not cost effective.

Update - It looks on casual inspection at a Ford commercial vehicles dealership that at least some transit badges are the same size as the front badge. I'll investigate further.

So, the transit badges are the same size, but - they aren't actually the same badge face, and the van badge is slightly lighter blue (van is left hand badge)

and it is flatter than the pukka badge

But when it's on the car - can you tell the difference?

That's really good! I know I'm sad but I'm a stickler for perfection (you can see its flatter, the blue oval bit is bigger and the chrome bits round the edge arent as prominent) but I'd rather have the pukka badge. Might be worth it for others who dont mind though!

It is ever so slightly different, but if its cheaper then it is definitely an option for anyone who loses the original.

Thanks for the feedback people - further news though, I saw a transit connect today that has a front badge the correct size - and looked much closer to the ST badge, maybe even the same. Ah well, back to the dealership....

It's only money.

You can't buy the badge by itself so there's no comparison. The only way to do it "properly" is to buy the whole front mesh part where the badge sits. This is why Lplus is looking into alternatives & ways of replacing just the badge.

OK, further information

The transit and transit connect up to about 06 appear to have been made with a badge that looks exactly like the ST badge, but the replacement part is the same for both vehicles - the one shown above.

However

I've got hold of the replacement badge for the back of the latest Galaxy and it's the same shape and depth as the original ST badge, though the blue is slightly lighter and the letters and rings are very slightly raised - as if the original badge had an extra layer of varnish over the whole thing. That said, it looks exactly the same shape, depth, texture and colour as the front badge on the Zetec S in the showroom. (which uses the same badge/grille as the ST)

This badge has no pegs at the back at all since it's supposed to stick on the tailgate glass. I'm not sure if the S-max badge is the same, though I think it is even though the S-max badge is on the metal of the tailgate.

Part no 1437169, priced at a very reasonable £9.45.

I've not yet fitted it - for a start I've got to prise the transit badge off the grill - so if I can make the 2hr drive to FITP I'll bring it along to view.

i decided to go for the DMB 'gel badges', you can have any colour combo you like and they look pretty good! its the centre section up to the second ring so you still see the chrome edge. £10 a pair is a snip aswell.

this is what they look like (this is in black)

i came up with this design for my car which i should have monday or tuesday..

i will post up pics when ive fitted them
