I'm new to this forum.. I live in South Africa.. Thinking about getting an ST..

Just wanted to know if anybody had taken on a Cooper S yet..?? And the result??

I live in Johannesburg which is at high altitude so the ST is going to lose 18% of its power so the Cooper S should really whoop the ST up here at Joburg coz it has the supercharger.. Just interested to know how bad I might get hurt..??

Despite having a supercharger the Cooper has a very dissapointing power output. Also, the high altitude will effect the cooper probably more than the ST.

well depends on what cooper s u get, bwn/mini do different types, like u can buy and upgrade for £360 to move it from 160bhp to 200-220 bhp and this is all out of a 1.6

on paper the copper s will beat the ST ahnd down, but its not the car it how u drive it

Now that my car is loosening up a bit I'll go for a drive and see if I can fine one to have a blast with

lol, mate if u get the standard 1 with 160bhp then it would be even, but if u go vs 1 with the £350 upgrade to mate (200-220bhp) it will muller u, but its worth giving ago i surpose

Very impressed with how the ST goes on the twisty roads, think it would give a few things a good run.

round my area all u have r str8 roads, so ant really see what it can do on twisty road which is a shame, but as i am on my pro- drive day thing on the 29th, i'll be able to then

Trust me, you will soon see that this car was built for the twisty's!

gd gd thats what i want to hear, i might have to visit my uncle and anut in wales, now there r some very nice roads there, some that r just the width of the car wide!!!!!

My sister has just bought a Cooper S. The power is actually 170bhp not 160bhp. Thought about having the Cooper works kit put on it but decided that the petrol consumption would be scary enough as it is. Nice looking cars I think but I still wouldnt pay over 17K for a car the size of a Mini.

i wasnt far off as i have only just had a little look at things to do with min's, but like i have said the cooper S would muller and st in a str8 line

I couldnt believe it when I saw how expensive the Minis were! I was at my local BMW dealership with my mum's 316 getting bits replaced and I nearly died!! Its bad enough my ST is costing me nearly £14K My dealership guy has told me he's taken the demo ST they have and said it has excellent cornering ability. A billboard ad I saw had a teeny pic of the ST in the corner with the logo "Loves corners"

that all the promation i seen ford give our little ST's i think they should promot it on a bigger scale, hardly anyone on the street knows what an St is

The Cooper S would probably give the ST a run for its money on the bends as well although i think it would be close.
