Joburg is at high altitude.. so the air is thinner and different pressure so the N/A engines im Joburg really suffer "breathing" problems..
All cars that are either supercharged or turbocharged suffer no power loss at all coz they make up for the air loss by the boost pressure..
All N/A cars in Joburg lose roughly 18% of their power.. NO gaining power HUGH!!
So a Mini Cooper S (170 BHP in SA).. (John Cooper Works in SA has 210 BHP)ALWAYS has 170 HP..
But the ST will always ONLY have around 128 HP in Joburg... unless we go down to the coast (sea level Cape Town or Durban) then we have 150 Hp for the ST..
So thats why I'm asking how a dice with a Cooper S 170 HP goes with u guys then I can guage how bad the whooping will be in Joburg..

i think a more refind air filter for the thin air maybe, i think abit more than a induction kit tho, but not too sure

i'm getting the Cooper S.. P/X, id rather pay 17k for a BMW then a fezzy, but still nice cars though! n the works upgrade kit thing is £3000 arghhhh! n Minis dont have as much depreciation then fezzys. SO NOT BAD!

I like the look of Mini's, just not enough boot space for me. It just depends what you want from a car. The gave me a good mix of performance, comfort and space. The Mini's certainly handle well, remember having some fun with a Cooper S at Oulton Park on a track day in my Impreza.

An induction kit will just increase the airflow to the engine.. say like fitting a bmc or K&N filter... its not going to help with the pressure and oxygen content of the air.. so it might help a little.. but thats the point when trying to keep a car show room stock..
Like when the E60 M5 lands here.. the MB E55 is going to HAMMER the CRAP out of the the M5 up on the reef as we call it ( up in Johannesburg ) but down at the coast the M5 will get its full power back anf give the E55 a good and proper hiding in a straight line..
The M3 in Johannesburg runs a 5.5s 0-100 KPH but a 5.0s in Durban or Cape Town.. Same with all NA cars.. Thats why up here in Joburg the guys in their M3's and so on have to be careful when they want to dice a Subuaru Sti for eg... coz the M will have less power and the scooby full power.. the guys in NA M3's can get embarrssed.. Down at the cost.. DIFFERENT STORY!!!! :-)
