HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS xr4 in australia. hoe come it only just being released and how come its called an xr4 instead of st any one know. same with the focus its called xr5 turbo
Simply that when the XR name was dropped here, because it had become insurance unfriendly, they carried on using it on the sportier Fords in Australia rather than Si etc. and they've carried on using the XR name through to the current models because its a strong brand there.

Hi Guys I'm Rob and I live in Brisbane, Australia, I have just signed up to your great site and have just bought a new XR4 (Fiesta ST) in Colorado Red with OTT stripes.
They have only been released here in about the last 6 months or so, dont see too many others on the road, Ford Australia are only importing 40 a month for the whole of Australia!, that way ensuring some relative exclusivity to the vehicle itself.
The reason the ST is called XR4 in Oz is simply a marketing ploy to follow suit with the other "sporting cars" in the Ford stable here in Oz, the Focus ST is called an XR5 over here and then there are the big brothers the XR6 and XR8 Falcons (the 6 and 8 denoting number of cylinders).

Quote: actually no, the seats dont have any emblem nor the steering wheel the only place you really see ST is on the engine..
weird really cos ST badge are display on the Seat and steering probably cheaper for them to not add the XR4 sign inside the car would have look good with those badge on
