the ST is more useable everyday use! don't have to rev it hard to get power! think on the TS u have to push it to have power right? and also the ST have better handling!

mine is standard and the book says 0-60 in 7.9s.

A lot of the guys here have upped their standard bhp from 150 to around 160-170 with air filters and exhaust upgrades. Not sure what they do.. based on that you could say they are comparable, but if you trying to go faster than you are currently you'd be looking at the wrong car!

I'm sure you'll find we will all recommend the ST on its merits, but if you're after straight line speed try the Clio 197 or CTR!

My personal view is that 0-60 times are only a guide as to what caliber of car you are looking at. On a real road with real life conditions text book figures count for very little.

All I'd say is that on paper the 2 cars look pretty damn close so you'd have to get into a Fez and see what you think. I'd recomend taking th ST onto a twisty B road to get the best from it and look at the speedo becasue it doesn't feel like a fast car....... kinda effortless really

0 - 60 times are misleading. The ECU on the ST limits the throttle opening on 1st and 2nd gears to reduce the stress on the drivetrain. Talking to the workshop supervisor at the local dealer about the ST, I think he said that the Focus ST has the same restriction.

My RS does, although the bluefin does reduce it somewhat, apparently its just uncontrolable without the restrictions

I dont think you will notice 0.7s - it all depends how the power is delivered. You would be surprised at how little distance this translates to.

My bros MR2 is the same 0-60 - but my car just feels much faster as it doesnt need to be smacked so much to get anywhere fast (although you still need to take it up to the redline to get the best of it).

The ST handles sweetly - easily one of the best small hot hatches about - the new ST i dont think will be near it in terms of dynamics, feedback. The only gripe i have with the ST is that it can be a bit nervous at high speeds.

is that why when you boot it in 3rd at the right revs it flys up to 70 whereas first and second it feels slower to react?

Why does everyone keep saying 3rd gear is the main one, mine seems like all the acceleration is in second gear? 3rd is still, but not as good as the 2nd.

The MPS whacks u in the back at any gear and any revs, no lag at all

The torque steer is fun too as with all fast turbo fwd motors
