Thanks for your comments, chaps. I had the car over at Evans Halshaw's bodyshop today and they noticed that the force of the spoiler being cracked off has slightly deformed the top bit of the tailgate (the corners where the spoiler is bolted on have bent downwards slightly).
So he's putting a quote together and when we know the price we'll decide whether to pay for it ourselves or claim off the insurers. I don't want to lose 9 years of no claims, but if it's a dear job I might have to. And then it'll get nicked again.
I know - I'll take the bolts out and fit blanking grommets in the holes. B*llocks to the spoiler - it doesn't need it anyway! (only slightly joking)

OMG i didnt think they was that easy to nick as they are bolted in at either end and they are bonded to the car. Its unbelevible what some people will nick off a car my old work mate had his head lights nicked while the car was outside his house over night

It's gone in the bodyshop today to have the top of the tailgate straightened and the slight damage to the sides of the roof put right. I WON'T be having a new spoiler fitted, as it will just get nicked again Looking on the bright side, the car will accelerate a *little* bit better without it, as it's quite heavy.
They've lent us a Zetec 1.25 in girlie blue. It's not bad at all - it's just that sod all happens when I put my foot down!

the spoiler on the ST was design for downforce and handling from what I read! so maybe the car will handle different!
