Top speedo reading ive had so has been 134 MPH on the A50 in a lame attempt to keep up wiht a Mazda RX8. Gotta admit wasnt as far behind as expected so rekon it must have only been the 190 bhp version! car felt stable as naything and was crying out for a 6th gear as was top of my revs..and couldnt go no faster boo hoo

ST 150 awsome!!!

so far in terms of cars my ST has nailed recently:

Twat reps in Last shape Golf / Passat Tdi's bout even to start with then ST pulling away from bout 70mph

Again tailgating reps (what is their problem) Mondeos 1.8 / 2.0 - ST150 gradually pulling away all the way....especially 90 mph onwards

MGZR120 - straight passed!!!!

New Golf TDi 2.0 M1 - pulling away then dicked on from 80 mph onwards!!!

Saxo VTR on dual carriage way - totally mullerd him !!!

Nova Sri which I scared the shit out of as i pulled up behind him rather rapidly!!!!

... ST150 totally comes alive at bout 80 mph and pulls like hell!!!!!!

I know what you mean about tail gating reps!!! I get loads of them examining my shiny chrome pipe Half the time I cant be naffed as I know in a few hundred yards I'll be right behind them at traffic lights or road works or something but there's a tiny spurt of dual carriageway at national speed limit (70)near me and if they try to undertake me on the roundabout or are up my pipe (ooer missus) I just wave, smile and boot it

VW: passat TD(red)I, 2 times golf 4 T(red)D(red)I really kicked their asses
some kind of a tuned mazda (was no challenge at all)
ford: mondeo tdci (130bhp version) no problem at all, there weight is in there disadvantage

Bit late for work yesterday,so I,m trying to move it down the dual carriageway, alls well except for the Seat Leon that won,t move out of the fast lane. After flashing him several times I took him on the inside (naughty).Anyway get past and he tries to follow (two young lads driving). So up to 160K ,sliding round the roundabouts etc .He follows me all the way to work gets out of his car then shows me his badge .Undercover cop`car bummer,But lucky me, I got away with a naughty boy don,t do it again.

Yeah, I'm now just over 500 miles in and have been starting putting my foot down a bit more. I agree though Morganog, even 1st and 2nd are impressive now, you get a proper shove in the back when putting your foot down hard in 2nd. I know 1st gear is fairly short, but if you can time your gearchange right then you get a constant surge from standstill up to 60. I haven't tried timing mine yet, I think i'll give it until its at least done a thousand before I do that.

was driving to work for 5am sat mornin (offer of some overtime) so thought as M1 was totaly empty i would see what it could do! managed to get just over 130 mph on straight flat road and no faster which is all i have managed before. then ...i thought to myself hmmm there is really REALLY steep slope down towards the Mansfield junction .... lets see what this beast can do!! So i approached this at about 120... just giving me enough time to slam on the anchors is there were any rozzers over the crest of the hill before i started my descent... there were'nt ... so i floored it!!!! Speedo reading as i approached the bottom of this really steep hill 140 mph!!! AWSOME! and no shit the car still felt as stable as anything... although i was crappin it a bit as i felt REALLY f***ing fast! Dont reckon i can better that again on any other piece of road .. and not gonna try it again either cos cant think its too good for the engine or my license !!!! RULLES!

I cant wait to get mine after reading all those. Im fortunate in that i live in germany so i will be able to sit with my foot nailed to the floor for miles to see how fast i can get out of it. its always fun to do. I do it in any car that i drive. my company car is a diesel opel corsa and it tops out at 170kmh and feels like im driving on sheet ice its that bad. im not a big fan of vauxhall/opels tbh.

I have had a Corsa and Astra and didn't really get on with either.

Obviously I have never gone over 70mph in my ST, but I have heard what others have done On the flat she pulls up to 120mph fast, then takes a little longer to get to 130mph where she stops.
When tried downhill she went up to 140mph on the speedo and that was not far from the rev limiter and she wasn't going any faster.

Has anyone had a dabble with the new golf 2.0 tdi sports? They are bloody fast, it was neck and neck. Off the mark I kill them but when you are going on the motorway its not as easy.

On a very straight road heading towards Stoke I hit 130mph on the dial, which was 124mph on my GPS (5% error is about right). The car didn't rally have much left in it to be honest, but back then I only had a panel filter.

thought about posting this question a couple of days ago after doing 134 mph on the motorway not sure if it would have went any faster if i have kept the foot down but thoughs of crashing and losing the lience soon slowed me down.

Sorry for having to point this out but I think we need to be a bit careful here folks. There was another thread on this topic a while back and as Pinky said there:

Quote:

Dont forget there was a BMW (I think) driver convicted of speeding wayyyyyyyyyy over the limit because... he boasted on the owners club forum & the police were reading it. They had him on camera but there was either something about not being able to see it was him driving or he was just going too fast...

Very true. On the open roads there, there is also no speed limits. I actually went across there last summer for a football tournament, and it was nice to able to put your foot down without worrying about any cameras or watching out for coppers. Shame it wasn't this year I went or I'd have been tempted to take my across with me on the ferry.

Now that would be interesting getting footage of that!!! Would require my propper video camera for that

There are a lot of really good roads on the island. Lots of really open stretches along with some good twisty ones. Not sure how some of the bikers have the guts to ride at the speeds they do in the TT races on some of them though!!!

Although there aren't any limits on the open roads on the Isle of Man, the coppers can still nick you for the 'furious driving' offence, if you're deemed to be driving on the wrong side of silly. Better keep to my side of the road when i'm doing 120 on the isle of man then!

Along the autobahn where there was a section for free speed, I achieved 220km/h (137mph) on a slight downhill gradient. Take away 5% for the speedo tolerance - 209km/h (130mph) approximately..... It was fast enough for a car this size.

Next time you do this set your digital speedo to read out MPH and you will get a more accurate reading, its usually 10% less!!!

When people quote "I've done 140mph its actually not"... Its about 128Mph in real terms, but let them think they are going that fast

A lot of other people seem to have done 134 - 137mph, so surely 142mph (with mods) is achievable. Or am I missing something about Prodrive?

Yeh.. The track is big but not that big. Most people (incl myself) got 90-100 and that was pushing it.

They may have been expert drivers, i've seen the way the racing drivers push those little lotus elises around silverstone for driving experiences, no car could even get near them!!! There was 800bhp skylines and the lot on the track!!!

I would have to agree with Pink on this one........ I would think it's very difficult to achieve 140 on the Prodrive track, it's not big enough for the ST to get to that speed IMO.

I've never been to the track so dont have a clue, it does take quite some time to get up to the very top end speed in any car though...

I was pushing around 95 on the back straight at my Prodrive day, and that was leaving the braking a little late! I've only managed 130mph on the dials (124mph GPS speed), and that was on a huge stretch of motorway. No amount of driving technique or exhaust trickery can make thae difference between 90 odd and 14(2)

Was out driving on a long piece of private road last night and managed to get 134mph and it was just hitting the red line on the rev counter so couldnt get much more. As everyone else has said it was as smooth as anything when i was doing it.

That must be the highest speed yet! How did you get a speed reading off the sat nav though?

You must tell us more about this 'private road' aswell

I've got 130mph out of my corsa 1.8SRi on the M6 toll, not bad considering the corsa only has 125PS compared to the ST's 150

the 1.8 corsa weights 1042KG, the ST's something like 1100KG iirc? so not too much difference.
btw can the ST do 60mph in second gear?

I couldn't say for certain, but I have had it a bit over 50 before. If no one else gives an answer, I'll let you know later.

I do know 100% that it can go at over 30mph in first though, and it sounds amazing!!

The dial said 150km/h at the time. I haven't really stretched it yet, it's just over a week old.

Oh, that's about 95mph, so not bad for a week old car. i'm guessing taking mine up to 120mph on a downhill stretch of the M1 near Coalville when my i'd had my ST for 2 days was probably a mistake!! So you're behaving better than me

I have had 130mph on the flat with the ST, and 140mph downhill and she would not go any faster. That was a speedo reading so it was prob a little less.

I'm pretty sure the ST would piss on the SRi (pardon my french)

got 135 so far.. in germany. Wouldnt chance going over 100 now, too many coppers on the M3!

My 1.2 corsa would do 120!Speedo has got to be wrong!!

Had a run in with a SRI last week, the ST def had something on it but it was close mind! Maybe just my driving!

My cars nearly done 10000 miles now and it certainly feels more bedded in!

Oh yes!! Coming home from work there's a crawler lane for about half a mile going uphill, and I LOVE the way that I can just dive into that outside lane coming off the roundabout at the bottom of that hill and just fly up getting past most things!!

To be honest i'm not really bothered with top end speed, i did get 105 mph at prodrive on the straight, but never really tried out on the Road.

What i do like though is the pulling power, especially uphill as in the post above, it's pretty awesome really, i just love the acceleration 2nd & 3rd Gears i get pushed back into the seat.

Fiesta ST.... best purchase i've ever made, i get bored with cars very easily, 9 Months on & i'm still loving the ST, no intention of trading in for a long time yet.

The 1.8 corsa can do only 55mph in 2nd and with a 0 - 60 time of 8secs compared to the ST's 7.9, therefore the corsa is a faster car than the ST as the only reason the ST is quickish to 60 is the fact that it can do 60 in 2nd gear!

makes bugger all sense that mate.

so to 60 the st is faster, due to 2nd gear being longer so to speak. but what happens in 3rd gear? surely the st is faster again due to already being faster. and so on.

vauxhalls aint my flavour and i can proudly say ive never drove one. take her to the pod and race against sum st's to proove whats faster

I don't agree with the SRI being faster than the ST.The ST has a 25 BHP advantage over the Corsa and has a far superior chassis than the Vauxhall. The power to wieght ratio is all important i'm sure it is better than the SRI

I'll just clarify my point. Obviously the more gear changes required to get to 60 will result in a slower time. Therefore the corsa's time of 8secs is very fast compared to the ST which has one less gear change, just imagine if the corsa could do 60 in second? It would piss all over the ST!

Performance wise yes the ST is quicker but your vauxhall will be light years behind when it comes to a corner or two.The ST is'nt much slower than a porsche Boxter 2.7 and a Focus RS around a track (fifth gear) so i think the SRI would be about in the range of a Sport KA or a Citreon C2 lap time

Agree. As I said earlier, no they are not going to be completely accurate but that is going to be the case for both cars, and therefore it doesn't matter if the times are slightly out - it still shows which is faster.

So unless the actual data can be found (not just the figures in your head) we are just going to have to agree with the information FiestaRS found

I have a Corsa as my work car and I would like to say that out of all cars I have driven - Ka, SportKa, Fiesta ST, BMW X5, Renault Scenic, Vauxhall Astra and the Corsa - it is the car with the least feel to it. It handles like a jelly and the response of the driver controls is horrible. I'm not a big fan of the Corsa, and I think Jeremy Clarkson would probably agree with me on that one. Just out of interest too, the will lap the 5th Gear test ttrack quicker than the BMW X5 4.8IS and the MG ZT 4.2 V8. Quite impressive if I may say so.

Is it not possible to change them from www.FordFiestaST.co.uk to www.ILoveCausingTroubleWithMyCorsa.co.uk

I would just ignore him, if you look at the Top Gear website it states
8 Secs 0-60 max speed 126. Perhaps a mod can change Noob to N%b!!!!!!!!!!

Scotty great idea to lock the other thread, you can't educate everyone. It's like the old saying "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink!"

PetrolSri, please read your own posts you tw@t
You complain that FiestaRS is providing theoretical data. but your whole arguement is based on the theory that if your car was geared differently it would be faster.
Either you want to argue on the basis of real world or theory.

I'm getting a bit annoyed with PetrolSRi. Putting foward a differing opinion is fine, but slagging of Ford, the and us on a Ford Fiesta ST forum, is totally out of order.

I agree, There were always gonna be disagreements but he seems to be launching into a personal attack on anyone who doesnt share his opinion

he should realise that on a fiesta website people are gonna be a bit biased towards the fiesta and respect that

At first i thought he would create some good arguments and would be good for making comparisans, i was wrong, He's just an irritating, immature, burberry wearing, chav! and nobody cares what he has to say

If my car could do 0-60 in 1st id get there in 6 seconds... 0-30 is around 3secs... so x2 and its 6... but infact as we all know... this is not the case unless your names Phyzzo and has an Focus...

People don't get banned for having a different point of view, they get banned for having an attitude problem and being disrespectful to other members of the forum. If you need more clarification you can always send a PM to one of the team (FiestaRS, ChrisCumbria, Chris or PinkRinse)

I've read the threads and it appears to me that it was the other members (including yourself) being 'disrespectful' to petrolsri! Basically petrolsri was not encourageing any law breaking, so i don't understand what everyone elses problem was? i think you should all stop being so small minded and listen to other peoples valid points of view.
The admins are obviously communists on here, and that has been proved in history to be a bad thing!
Also as your all so called university educated people why do you call people "tw*ts", thats a very uneducated way of refering to someone!

This forum has, and always will, encourage debate amongst people. Obviously everyone will have different points of view on various issues and it is right that they are discussed. It would be a boring world if everyone agreed about everything. However, that debate is normally discussed in a civilised manner, not by starting off a debate by throwing insults because a couple of people have happenned to disagree with what you have said.

In that other thread PetrolSRi was expressing his personal opinion, however equally other members of the forum were just as entitled to express theirs. That thread COULD have been locked a long time before it was, however it was deliberately chosen not to do so in order that everyone, including PetrolSRi, could have the chance to discuss the issue that was being debated. It was only locked once it had become apparent that there was nothing new that could be added to either argument.

Banning members from the forum is NOT something that has ever been done lightly. The fact that in almost two years since the site came online only three people have ever had to be banned backs this up.

I hope it isn't the same person as this forum is the friendliest forum I have ever been on and it would be a shame for someone like that to ruin the whole atmosphere of the place. I know that people like Scott have worked damn hard making this what it is and I hope it isn't ruined by one spiteful person.

I'm sure it won't come to that.
I'm sure there would be a way of permanently banning people based on IP address or something along those line.

Back on topic.
Fastest I've been in my Focus is 125mph (clock speed) but she was screaming for me to stop

I got my SportKa up to a clock speed of 122mph. And while it seemed to be stable enough, the needle was well into the red line. I think 'slow down you crazy bas***d' was being screamed from the exhaust pipe

Thank you for your comments once again about the board, im really glad when members say this as it makes all the hard work, late nights, and effort in keeping it going at hard times in the past very worth while!!!

Theres no way this forum will be abused or the atmophere taken away, you have my word on that. Just aslong as the members love it here, thats all that counts, or no its the community that is the most important!!!

Yes his IP has also been banned.

What engine is in your focus!? I've had mine 134mph on the clock and still had pull, but was taking a bit too much road, so had to slow as it was coming to an end (on a private road)

It would take one hell of an educated person to get round an ip address ban!

It's a 1.8 which is the same as yours so i'm shocked by that. I did hear somewhere that the power output of these engines do vary quite widely. Not sure how true it is.

Just think that I should second that. I know it must have taken a lot of hard work early on to establish the atmosphere that exists on the forum, and I'm glad that I've been able to carry that on since joining the team. There is lot of hard work involved at times, but it does make it very much worthwhile to know that members appreciate the efforts that we all put into the site!!

On subject (sort of):

Don't have the yet, but the fastest i've been this week was 160kts......but thats in a tutor (plane in my sig)! As for cars took my dads old mondeo V6 up to 135mph, but for me its all about acceleration/performance rather than all out top speed.

Off subject:

IP ban's are, like most things, easy to get around if you know how. I run a forum elsewhere and had this trouble. Also this forum is spot on!
When I finally get the if i'm ever out of the car, i'll probably be posting on here talking about it!

Keep up the good work!

The fastest I've been in a car is 175mph on the German autobahn in my dad's TVR Tuscan. Obviously not me driving it mind. The autobahn was clear by the way, no traffic to get in the way but my god things fly past you at a rate. One second you passing a sign that says 1000 metres to the exit and about 4 seconds later, your at that exit. Scary stuff!

oh its simple, you go to your nice isp server and say, please o please can i have a new ip address, only, i was a bit of a numpty with the old one and want asecond chance, so the nice little isp server gives you a fresh second chance ip address to be a good boy with. I have very little education but i believe thats how it works...

Feel free to spot any mistakes The actual equations are scribbled in pencil in the top left hand corner, luckily you can't really read them

And i'll prob get in trouble now for taking this hiddeously off topic

Wow i don't look at the site all weekend and look what happens!

Lots of points can be made on all of the goings on, but mine is simply that I would rather get the bus (or maybe even walk...) than be seen in a Pox... I mean Vauxhall Corsa.

It is a heap, simple as that. Its not fast, it has no street credibility, every review I've ever read (that's all the evidence I have sadly as previously stated I would never get in one) says that it handles like WinnieThePooh.

Not wanting to make light of the subject.... but maybe PetrolSRI had to have a drink to actually have the courage to get in and be seen (in public) in the Crappy Corsa.!

I think that a lot of this is to do with the driver also, not necessarily just the car. Someone in a equally as fast car may have a much quicker gear change !!

Sorry to put a downer on this subject but from a Police background, discussions like this can be tracked via computer IP's (it doesn't help when you actually state places too) as i can gaurantee that you will always get a bored police man who will sit in one of these locations just waiting to catch people racing or trying to be bigger than one another.

I know how fast my car will go without having to do it so when someone pulls up next to me in a corsa (or similar) revving the engine then why risk losing my life when i KNOW that my car WILL beat it... Just a waste of petrol i think.

I understand what your saying there Iaen about the speed thing. But I don't think that people on here are trying to beat one another with the top speeds I think it's more of an interest regarding the car - to see how fast the car will actually go. Ford quote 129mph as the top speed of the car but it's interesting to see that the car can actually go that bit quicker, and of course to try it out on private ground or an airfield and not the motorway.

And on a completely different topic, I wanted to be a copper when I was about 15 and still wanted to up until a few months ago when I changed jobs. I'm loving my job now and I'm hoping to make a full blown career in it. What part of the Police are you in btw?

I had a Astra SRi 2.2 and comparing that to my ST the ST wins hands down. Its almost the same stats but the ST is a much better car so Ford it is from now on. I also know the Astra would piss on the Corsa by the way coz its been done.

Got 129mph out of my ST on the autobahn the other. And the I had my TomTom in the car at the time, and its speed was identical to the cars. When I did high speeds in my sportka the speedo was over reading quite a bit. It seems then I was actually doing 129mph nearly hitting 6000rpm. Could have gone a bit faster had my turn off not been fast approaching!
