i have just recently noticed that there is a knocking noise coming from the engine bay or possibly from the exhuast when the car is reved slightly!

if i crawl along in second gear the noise is louder, also after i have driven it for a while, which makes me think that it may well be the exhaust that needs tightening up as it could be vibrating.

has anyone else had this problem??

i will be booking it in next week to get it looked at.

have you changed the exhaust at all? or is it a standard car?

Is it a Milltek? Is the noise coming from roughly the middle of the car? If so its possible the exhaust hanger has snapped. Milltek exhausts love doing this...

Have you checked the oil? I'd get it to a dealership asap.

They won't let you put it in with the induction kit fitted? Are they mental!!!! I hate dealerships like that. There's also the possibility it could be the engine mount knocking. Again , not a problem I'd be wanting to drive the car a lot with.

yeah they are fussy!!! not a problem tho, will just have to change it tonight or monday night.

im pretty sure its coming from the exhaust area near the engine. just happens when its at low revs, enough to cause a vibration.
i will be driving 2mrw to cheltenham so i will see what happens along the way!

Could it be your air filter/induction kit knocking? Just heard my mate start his engine and it knocked.. Might be worth checking?

the rattling does sound like it is coming from the exhaust up near the engine bay, could be a loose bracket or something?!?!?!? maybe a hole in the exhaust?!?!?!?

definatley not the induction kit as i took that off and it was still doing it.
dont have any problems with the engine, all is running smooth.

taking it to guy my bro knows who works at ford as the head technician who will check it out for me. that way i dont have to mess around taking the induction kit off.

right took the car to ford this morning.
technician thinks the rattling is coming from the inlet manifold.
took it in there with my induction kit on it and they took it no problem.

also noticed last night when i had the car up on the jack that the oil and oil filter was black and dirty. found out that the car was not even looked at or serviced before they sold it to me.

told the sales manager at my dealership who is going to talk to the service department about servicing it while its in there.

hopefully will get the car back tommorrow.
in the meantime im driving my mums Puma! which is quite slow comared to the ST!
