Holy moly! None of them? lol That's waayyyyy too much to be paying for insurance. Have you ever thought you might be better off running a banger on some cheaper insurance for a year or three?

At 17 for those sorts of cars thats what I'd be expecting to pay. Perhaps set your sights a little bit lower car-wise?

Perhaps you'll have to downgrade the car? A Clio Campus 1.2 60hp is group 1 and so is the C1/107/aygo. I think the C1 is 1E however because I think it has an alarm installed as standard. I think I paid £1250 for a clio 1.2 8v 60hp, 3 years old when I got my first insurance even with a crash declared (but not my fault). Then there's something like a KA which is group 2 for the basic model which Polar are flogging for £5000 brand new at the minute. Some manufacturers offer free insurance with a brand new car from time to time so perhaps you could look out for those?

Hello mate,

I know exactly how you are feeling, I was in your shoes once. Looking around, knowing that I have the money and just get what car I can get but the best thing is:

Seeing as you are young, get a low engine car such as 1.0 or around that and get the driving experience. Insurance will be high, the same for new young drivers. I had my fiesta 1.1 for £1,300 (with parents) which is a lot but we got to start somewhere.

After 2 to 3 years I got a focus then an ST with insurance that I could afford because I'm older, got more driving experience. That is what the insurance companies are looking for. I know that you are excited and wanna add extra touches to your car but that may increase the insurance price.

Best Advice - Sit down, think about the money and the long term investment. Don't splash your money out bec if you do, it will be hard in the future.

Let us know how you get on mate. If you wanna know anything or just a chat PM me or message here.

Cheers mate

That might be ok, try see if you have your parents as policyholders with you as named driver. That way it be cheaper and also you get driving experience. Have you seen an 1.25 fiesta?

i started off on my grandparents insurance and was on there for ooooo nearly 5 years.... My first car was a 1.3 KA, then I had a 2004 1.4 fiesta, then a 1.6 hyundai coupe, then another one, then a 2.0 coupe SE, then a 2005 ST now this one.... think what im really trying to say is because of having a clean license for 6 years it doesnt bring the insurance down that much, its only starts when u start getting NCB. In my opinion go for a smaller engined car, like a KA or something similar and work your way up.... the insurance will go down in price quicker if u have your own policy..... im paying £600 for my ST at the mo, which is amazing as i was still getting quotes of £1800.....
