you want your car to look like an ST or have you got an ST but want kit changed?

if you want an ST kit i would best bet is either Ford or maybe ebay unless a company sells it directly. But as for bodykits depending on what mrk fiesta you get. Most mrk6 kits wud fit a mrk6 st but if not try www.pumaspeed.co.uk. They have a couple on there that are quite nice. Im getting the RS Concept Kit

mate get the car first and then consider your options!

Its probably going to cost you at least a grand to get a bodykit and get it sprayed to look like an ST, and it will affect your insurance too.

Get the car, get it insured and then start looking at kits

Please don't post anyones mobile number (even your own) on the site. You never know what kind of bots are scanning the forums (even weird people!!) and you'll forever be getting calls advertising stuff. If you need to exchange numbers please do it over PM.

Does anyone actually sell the true concept bodykit though? Even the Pumaspeed one is actually the JWRC bodykit, not the RS concept one (albeit in imperial blue). I know its obviously very similar but it's not quite the same.

As said above, Pumaspeed sell the JWRC kit, not the RS Concept kit... There are some substantial differences between the two, the JWRC kit being a bit more extreme and wider as well as having a rear bumper with no diffuser which was a very nice feature on the RS Concept. Unfortunately the RS Concept kit is not available commercially and my guess would be that it can't be as it's probably under copyright from Ford.

Even if it did it'd be a poor investment!

Anyway all show and no go is pointless! You'll have people queuing up at lights to race you and then a 1.2 Corsa will probably beat you

I tend to agree that putting the JWRC kit on a standard Fiesta wouldn't be quite right. But I wouldn't be too sure about a 1.2 Corsa beating it. Before my ST I had a 1.25 Fiesta (albeit the previous shape one) and it was surprisingly nippy, certainly went quicker than I think it maybe should have done.

Yes my point was with bodykit, but also my experience of Vauxhall (a nova) is that they are pretty quick in their class - and apologies for this but I had to check the 0-60s to make sure (sad I know!)

Corsa 1.2i 16v - 11.8s
Fiesta 1.25 16v - 13.6s

Corsa will beat it in any case, certainly with a bodykit

Yeah fair enuf about slowing the fiesta down with the body kit but without the bodykit it kicks ass I leave 1.2 corsa's standing and they can neva catch up and I've even raced a 1.4 pug quicksliver and was with him all the way and would of overtook him but a car was coming the other way the guy in the pug went ( dont Underestimate the 1.25 Fiesta )

Did you see the figures I posted above

don't get me wrong, the 1.25 fiesta is nippy and a nice car but not even the 1.4 Fiesta is as quick as the 1.2i Corsa - the ones you met probably didn't know how to drive!

What eva put it this way give me any Shitty little corsa and I'll rip it apart. by the way it says in the book the 1.25 fiesta only does 102 mph erm nah it don't at all I've had mine at 110 but u no the book knows all dont it. 0-60 in 13.6 it takes me no where near that time to get to 60.

I'd be very surprised that you'd had 110mph out of your car.... was it downhill, wind assisted or dropped off a cliff? If you're looking at your speedo then don't bother quoting figures because they're blood inaccurate and are set to systematically over read anyway. If you have sat nav make sure the positional accuracy is good enough to give an accurate speed reading

am I not ok? I was only saying that the fiesta is nippy but corsa 1.2 is quicker!

Just stating a textbook fact.

Your car isnt standard so that would have some effect. As regards top speed my clio said 105 in book but did 118, dont forget speedo is not fully accurate, try it on ST and it is up to 10% out to a digital reading!

fair enuf about the speedo being inaccurate. lol it was down m5 motorway i got it :d. I can't see how a 1.2 Corsa is quicker just can't see it. I no the 0-60 textbook facts but still can't see how a 1.2 twinport can keep up for a 1.25 16v I've had loads of 1.2 twinport corsa race me and they all lose. arh well put it this way lol no 1.2 Corsa will can anywhere near me in me ST I've heard of a speedo being out by a few mph but not 10%. What happens about speed camras if the speedo out? say your speedo's out (by 5mph) if your doin 40 in a 40 and went thur a speed camra it would catch you out for doing 45 wouldn't it but how is that your fault? i dont get it lol

Speedometers over-read rather than under-read. I think the law says they can be up to 10% over, but not under - which is approximately right for the STs speedometer.

with my 1L corsa managed to hit 105 MPH on the speedo which seem alot for a 1L cos think the tops speed was like 90-95 MPH MAX If I remenber!

All it means is how inaccurate your speedo is allowed to be. So say you're genuinely doing 40mph then it could legitimately read anything between 40 and 44mph. But it couldn't say that you were doing less than 40 since that would breach the regulations.

Essentially, all mechanical gauges have a degree of inbuilt inaccuracy(usually of plus or minus 10%), and the law allows this to be taken into account - the more accuarate that they were made then the cost would become more and more prohibitively high for the small benefit gained. However, they wouldn't want the speedo to under-read, firstly for the reason you gave above, and secondly from a safety point of view - assuming that a speed limit has been posted beacuse its deemed that thats the safe maximum then it wouldn't be right for someone be thinking that they were safely driving under that limit when they were actually going faster.

Effectively therefore they "rig" the position of the digits on the dial so that even if it was under-reading then you wouldn't see that, it would then display you going at the correct speed you were travelling at, rather than showing you to be slower than what you actually were.

If you or anyone you know has a sat nav (e.g. Tom Tom) go out in your car with it all set up and see what the GPS speed indicator says instead of your speedo. You'll see how out they can be!
