Hi all, new to the forum.
I've had my 2001 Fiesta Zetec S for 2 years now, it's only done 49k. I'm looking to change in the next few months and am considering a Fiesta ST.
I've read road test after road test but just wanted to ask some of you owners what the cars like to live with on a day-to-day basis.
I get terrible MPG out the of Zetec S so wondered what the MPG would be form the larger 2.0 ST?
I also seem to spend most of my life in the car laterly so also need something comfy, would the ST be any use on long motorway trips?
I've got around £10k to spend so would like a plain colour one, ideally white with low miles. I've seen a few pictures of the cars interior however am very put off by some of the two tone dashboards. This isn't on all the cars, is there a reason for this?
Soz for the length of thread and thanks for any replies in advanced.

Hi, welcome to the forum!

The ST is a really great car, in the first couple of thousand miles a lot of seem to get between 25-30 mpg, mine has run in a bit now about 4500 miles and is getting 32mpg most of the time, that's allowing for partly "sensible" driving and partly booting it, which of course you have to do from time to time. My journey to work is mainly motorway, speeds varying between 50 and 80 and if I do drive it carefully I can egt 35 mpg.

Someone posted a while back they did a long journey at about 50mph and got about46mpg I think, though I haven't got anywhere near this myself!

The seats are very comfy and I have no complaints there.

Yo can get a brand new plain one of a few websites for £10,700 and if you check "the lot" on the forum I think someone is selling a second hand one for £9,200.

There is a detailed response Re: the dashboards there is a full detailed guide to what colour dash goes with what colour car, I just had a look but can't find it, maybe someone could post link here?

My car is in performance blue and has the blue dash, I wasn't ken at first but to be honest it looks good to me now and doesn't bother me at all.

Let us know how you get on

Thanks for the quick response. Just one other thing, my current Zetec S hasn't got A/C which is one of the main reasons I've had enough of it and can also use that as the excuse to upgrade.
What kind of toys come as standard on the ST, xeon headlights? Parking sensors? A/C? Heated Front Screen? and so on?

The ST comes with air con and half leather seats.
Heated front screen is standard and is excellent.
You get a 6 cd in-dash player with remote.
An aux in for you mp3 player.
not sure if the lights are xeon or not. parking sensors are a £250 option.

I bought mine new from here if you click through th elist you can see what is standard and what extras you can get at what price

Just to clarify this:

Red ST - full leather seats, grey dash; half-leather red seats, grey dash.
White, silver or black ST - full leather seats, choice of grey or blue dash; half-leather red seats, grey dash; half-leather blue seats, blue dash.
Blue ST - full leather seats, choice of grey or blue dash; half-leather blue seats, blue dash.

Hi, had my ST a little over a month now, still smile every time I go and see it on the drive, smile even more when I drive it. Getting approx 28-30mpg around town,as JJST says partly sensible!! Very comfy, loads of room for my kids in the back too, I can't be negative at all except to make sure you brush your teeth regular 'cos like me you wont stop smiling!!

Good Luck

I've been looking around, on eBay and Autotrader and think I might go for a plain white one with full leather/heated seats. How much do you think I might get for a 2001 Zetec S in Red with only 49k on the clocks? It's a great car,it's just I brought it with 23K on the clocks and spend most of my time in it hence the boredom.

Hi that sounds like a nice choice!

I would guess your ZS would be worth about £3k private sale.
