Hi,

I have come across an advert for an '05 Reg Fiesta ST with 8500 miles on for sale on Pistonheads for £7500, is this a good price?

Cheers

8500 miles for an '05 plate!! .

Sounds like a good buy.

If you decide to have a look, pay special attention to the inner walls of the tyres, and for stone chips to the bonnet and front wings that may have been colour coded polished.

Good luck on your decision .

Why's that mate?? Car is still under warranty so any major problems could be fixed?

I'll get an HPi check done before viewing to make sure it is the real deal and not a cut and shut or anything dodgy

My friend at work, DAVE T ST, will explain.

If Ford mechanics can't explain why his inner tyre threads are shot after 7000 miles and his Cat needs replacing on a brand new then a HPI can't either.

HPI is a good idea, but it only tells you the history of the car, how many owners, the last recorded mileage, service history etc.

It will not tell you of any known faults that have not been rectified by the previous owner unless he/she has reported them.

As i said, look at the tyres, especialy the rear inboard ones to see if they have been moved from the front to the rear.

I don't want to put you off, the is wicked; just want to make you aware of buying any second hand motor i supose.

Keep us informed.

Ok cheers mate, I will def check the tyres, do the front wheels need to be on full lock to check them better?

Why would there be a lot of stone chips on the bonnet??

Like mine also, i thought mine was low miles on 21,000, but that does seem a good price with such low milage.

I think it has been reduced a few times. I have spoken to the woman selling it and she said she is changing jobs so wants to sell quite quick. Going to look at it this weekend.

Is great value £7,500! Hope its all good, the HPI will also tell you if there is outstanding finance which would be my biggest concern on a car of this age.
Good luck!!

I'm quietly confident that it will be okay. If it is and I buy it the first thing I will be doing is a remap, anybody recommend a good one? Bluefin? Dreamscience?

Cheers

You can do that mate. Just make sure that your insurance is all done and you might have to do that over the phone after you have seen the car. Most police forces will now crush cars they find on the road that are not insured.

Yeah I was going to make sure I had the insurance in place, don't really want to get nicked or lose my car after just buying it.

Not usually as bad as that though, at least not in this area. She must be really desperate.

Yeah just give it a good look over for any signs of repaired damage, but hopefully it'll be pretty straight, can't imagine you could hurt it much in 8.5k miles!

Let us know how you get on

Picked it up today and it is immaculate except for a tiny bit of kerbing on the two front alloys.

Been driving about all day and I love it!
