Is it a Mk6 ZS you have now?

The is 7.9s 0-60 but it will cost you plenty more in fuel, tax and insurance. Handling is slightly sharper than a ZS but Micky would be best advise on this as he had one previously

Dunno, there's a lot of prats in pretty fast s!

On a more related note, the ST might not be as fast in a straight line as some of its competitors, but will generally beat them round the bends, and, like almost all Fords of late, in build quality.

Just for the record, I'm not (yet) an ST owner, but the next person would probably say what I said anyway, so you might as well hear it second hand

an st is fast in comparision to some cars, i went from a 1.3 fiesta to an st and it was an awesome change. I now have a Mazda RX8 192bhp (0-60 in 7.2s) and its quicker but i would say a lot faster than the st. If you can afford it all (insurance, tax etc) then deffo go for it and you wont regret it

It depends how fast you want to go! I have driven the zetec S and it is a bit smoother but nowhere near as punchy as the ST. Do a rolling start in second gear at 20 mph and the ZS is quicker... for a second or so and then the ST opens up and pulls away gradually.

The driving experience is a lot different, whether it's worth the extra fuel and tax and insurance is your call. If you just want straight line speed the ST might not be exactly what you're looking for.

It is fun though

have drive the 1.6 version and compared to the ST the 1.6 didn't feel that slow and was well surprised in performance even so if after u fill the ST power. but if I compared my ST and my GTI the ST is slower in performance figure, but the ST is much better in handling but have to say they both great car

Err yes,its fast.

Look on u tube. there 2 5Th gear head to heads ST v Corsa SRI and ST v Colt turbo. The ST beats both, even though on paper the corsa SRI is quicker , its just cant cut it on the corners, not sure about the colts. and cost
Well its uses about the same amount of juice as me old focus 1.6 zetec petrol estate. the tax is 175 this year , next year its 205 quid whihc is only about 60 quid more that me old focus, and the insurance for me is only bout 330 quid a year, 80 quid more than me focus. So its not expensive to run if you are in your middle 30s . There is a women at work who is 19 and she pays 2.5k a year on insurance. !!!
