Newer fords dont have speed sensors - on olderfords it was looked above the diff hole on the drivers side but on duratec engined fords the speed is calculated through the ABS sensor.

that solves that problem, the ABS sensors seem to do everything on these cars!

thought it was the speedsensor going tits up on me, instead of the ABS issue i have been having.

just cant figure out why it reads 2/3's but detects wheel spin yet when reading correctly i cant get wheel spin to appear on the speedo.

this is why i was asking though
Ford parts - gearbox speed sensor

That looks like a drive shaft coming out of the gearbox, so the VSS is just above it. Which would be a logical place to locate the sensor.

This Mondy thread should help you locate it.

well if ford changed it on the mondy box's i'd hope they would of moved it across into a similar position for service reasons. Thanks for the help, will do some investigation into it before buying the part..

if anyone else can help that would be great as well

5 Star's to that man though

just checked the haynes manual i have for a mk6 (Not for ST model's though) and it say's vehicles with ABS do not have a VSS sensor fitted.

this maybe different for the ST though as the ST has torque limiters (or so i've read from a previous post on here) and is the only thing that can make logical sense.
