Admiral always best for me, I insured mine at 18 for 1500 ish

In the event of an accident, they WILL investigate this sort of situation. One of my best friends works at RBS who are linked to half of these insurance companies and in the event a named driver has an accident, they will be looking very carefully into the scenario and particularly the likelihood of them actually being a named driver.

In the event you are named and it APPEARS you are actually the main driver, they can decline your insurance payout AND keep your premium!

Really is not worth it, sorry it isn't more positive for you, I can imagine it is very frustrating trying to get insurance and this is why IMO so many ****** out there don't have insurance

insure in your name and add mum and dad that should reduce your premium

It's not just the premium you have to consider, it's the excess as well. Can you afford to pay 1500-2000 plus a further 700 on the excess if you crash or some chav steals your body kit? Can you afford to pay more insurance the following year if you claim? Have you enough money to buy a decent ST?

I'm not sure how the insurance company can prove that the car is mainly driven by one person but it might help to have the car registered in your dads name? I suppose insurance companies will do anything to get out of paying these days.

Most of the time you are playing the postcode lottery. If your postcode is good you'll get a better premium. Also watch out for garage, on the drive and pavement. On occassion i've noticed it to be cheaper to say roadside than it is in a garage or on the drive. It's crazy but I assume on the roadside the car is more overlooked?

Your probably better off going under your mums insurance rather than your dads if possible.

If i were you mate id do a quote on confused or gocompare and put yourself as main driver and stick your old man as named driver...mine went down by like 300 - 400 by doing this.

Does still depend where you live though.

A word of advice though...dont go through gocompare or confused when you get a quote...once u found a cheap one go to the company direct as i was being charged by gocompare for going through them...sometimes its worth reading the small print!!!

Good luck fella!

I'm 21 and pay just under 900quid with Admiral.

Personaly mate, I'd get a 1.4 or a 1.6 Zetec S and insure it on your own policy and build up your no claims, It really isnt worth risking been a named driver.

Insurence companys can find out alsorts, 1 of my mates got banned and when he re-insured the car he didnt tell them, some how they found out.

Is it really worth risking it all and in the long run ending up waiting longer to insure a ST?

I put my mum on my policy as a named driver and it brought it down about 250quid so that was cool.

Depends what postcode you live in really. I'm 19 with a 1.25 Fiesta Zetec Blue and it's 1800 for a ten month policy from admiral. I tried getting a quote for an ST for next year and it was 6400 so i dont think i'll be getting one just yet =[

Hi, i also found admiral car insurance the best/ cheapest!

Im 19 with 1 years NCBS, at first they quoted me 1800, then once i added my mum on as a named driver it went down to 1400!
The only snag was that this had to be payed in full!

Good luck!
