I just hope that whichever one of them wins it now, then it isn't down purely to the Bernie Bonus. The teams all said in the winter that they disagreed with the rule change, yet when it came to the meeting with Bernie in January to discuss rule changes then not one of them even brought it up it and it appears they're all still waiting for a spine donor. The drivers don't agree with it, and the majority of F1's paying customers don't either. Can you imagine if the chief executive of the Premier League decided on a whim to introduce quadruple points for the last game of the season (which would be the equivalent effect)?
Rob, I wouldn't joke about that. Bernie did say a few years ago that he thought it should be purely down to who'd won the most races, but never brought it in. So, if we had another season like the start of 2012 where it was a different winner every race you could potentially have someone win the championship who'd won say 3 races and done nothing else all year.
