I'm not having much luck with my Fiesta ST at the moment, not only did the Mrs reverse it into a van recently, putting a nice dent the rear corner, but also I’m having a few problems.

I'm getting quite a bad knocking within the steering column every time I go over a bump, or round a corner on an uneven surface. Anyone had this problem, or knows of it?

Also I went to put the driver’s seat forward yesterday, and the seat handle just came off in my hand, couldn't believe it. Would Ford consider this wear and tear item, as I barely use the back seats, so the handle barely gets used? Can they simply replace the mechanism? Anyone one had this problem and had it sorted under warranty.

I know it's only minor stuff but the car is beginning to annoy me. May have to defect and swap it for a 182.

Any help appreciated.

i had that knocking with a Mondeo and could never find it!

bad luck on the dint thing my mates wife has done this about 3 times to their car

I have heard of a few pepole having that seat prob but I think the interior is only under warrently for 1 year but even if the car is over a year its worth a try on the warrrenty I would say

Apparently Ford are aware that there is a problem with the drivers seat aduster mechanism, but have done nothing about it, go down and complain, worth a try.

It's not the adjuster that has broken it's the handle to tilt the seat to let people in the back seats. Is this what you are referring to ?

The seat tilt mechanism is a very comon fault on the Fiesta and Ford are aware of it.

I have had two replaced over the last 3 years.

Book it in, they will know all about it.

It will be covered under warantee, if they argue about this phone the Ford hotline quoting the garage to them: 08458411111.

The knocking you hear might be the PAS pipe. Apparently this was quite a common problem on the earlier STs

Many thanks for the extra info.

Is there any way if I can check if it is the PAS pipe (I.e. is it easily accessable to check under the bonnet)?

Hopefully it won't be a problem getting the tilt machanism sorted then. Can they do this while I wait ?

I wouldnt know if its easy to get to/look at but I know the pipes were replaced with softer ones.
