Hello, I have a problem with my car and I'm wondering if you can help me. I have a ford fiesta flight R reg 1997 and I am having trouble with my brake lights. If i press the clutch in to change gears eg when i am accellerating or when i am slowing down, the brake light comes on for a second. It just flickers on and then back off again, but i am wondering if anyone has any ideas what the problem may be?
thanks

Sound like you got a short in the lighting system. Have you just changed the lights. Not sure how much help we can be on hear as it is based around the st which is a mk6 fiesta. The only thing i can reccomend is check the wiring

as Mickey said it's hard to say... maybe a faulty brake switch though, cheap and easy fix if so

have you changed the lights at all recently? i had similar problem on my car when i changed the bulbs because i didnt use double filament bulbs and only used single. If not just try replacing all the bulbs as they are cheap to replace.

If i were you, i would get my head under the drivers footwell to see if there is a bit of carpet between the clutch and brake pedal, thus, pressing the clutch maybe touching the brake pedal for a split second.

Just a thought.

It is the brake light switch on your brake pedal that is out of adjustment.

It is too sensitive.

The clutch and brake pedals are linked units so when you press the one the other moves very slightly (about 5mm) to take up the slack in the bar.

Get the switch adjusted so it turns the lights on when the pedal is futher depressed and all will be OK
