Hi all.
Just went to open the bonnet to check levels and the catch by the passenger door will not release the bonnet, although it moves freely. you can feel the cable moving if you open the glove box so it is the catch that is frozen. Any ideas how i can move the catch ????

erm getting ur fingers between the gap and try get the latch that releases the bonnet and it should be ok after that or try going underneath the front of the car and somehow reaching up. If not take it to a local mechanic or ford so they can take a look!

I've had my bonnet release doing that a few times. The best is to get someone to pull the release lever while you press down on the bonnet. This eases the pressure and the catch should unlock. If nobody is available to help it may also work to press down on the bonnet to get the catch unstuck sufficiently so that when you operate the lever it will work.

i keep thinking the flimsy catch under the bonnet is going to come away in my hand before long.as for yours it must be a warrenty job.

Got it sorted. Took it to the local ford garage at Winford (nr Bristol). He tapped the front of the bonnet while i pulled the lever. BINGO. we spreyed some wd40 on it to make sure it was free. Just wonder how many ppl this has happened to?. Thanks for the replys chaps.

Yep, that has happened to me a couple of times but it turned out that the bonnet was not closed properly, so the release mechanism did not work. Whenever I close the bonnet, I make sure I slam it shut good and proper!!

Yes, this happens to me EVERY SINGLE TIME. I love that opening my bonnet is a two person job, I mean who doesn't!

I'm not taking it to the garage here to be fixed as it took them 6 weeks to fix my power fold mirror.

did happen to me as well before! after fitting grease everything was fine! didn't have anymore problem!

Never happened to me before last week when i was selling my ST to a Volvo dealer tried to open the bonnet and it wouldnt budge, handle came off in my hand, what a time to happen when i'm trying to get a good price for my ST, did the press down on the centre front of the bonnet and it opened after i had replaced the plastic pull handle.

what a time for that to happen.
