I got my 1st year breakdown cover free with the car and the second year I got AA at half price through Ford. Now what happens for the 3rd year? Do I get shafted for the full amount?

would think so cos its 12 month roadside assistance from new then you get a letter saying you can have the second year at half price so more than likely the 3rd will be full price.

I got 3 years free cover with my previous car so it's the first time i've had to look into it really. I'm sure my insurance offered me relay for £36 but the problem is stopping AA from doing a direct debit without permission. I know its not very expensive but i've got a service and road tax to pay for this month as well.

Standard Roadside is: £43 (online 34.40)
Relay (takes your car to any UK Destination) £93 (online 69.75)
Standard roadside with homestart £87
Standard roadside with homestart and relay: £137
Standard roadside with homestart and relay + hotel acc £172

The free years break down with the AA is useless! i had to call them on sunday cos my keys where locked in the car, but because i was within 4 miles of my house they said i would have to upgrade to homestart, so i said ok might aswell, £90 odd pound is cheaper than calling some1 else out, so im about to do the transaction and the women goes theres also a £50 surcharge cos ur in a situation and ur getting ur membership now, i was like wtf but im already a member!! and she started blabbing on about all the tchnical stuff....i told her to stuff it! why should i have to pay a extra £50 when im already a member and im giving them more busisness and money upgrading my account! its soo stupid!

I didn't know it was only the very basic cover! Good job I didn't need them. I had 3 years of Renault Assistance before (basically the AA) and that covered everything except for hotel cover - battery died on my drive and they came out and replaced it free of charge, parts included, also the ignition coil went while I was at the coast, again the part was replaced free of charge, all in a decent amount of time. The ST has been a lot more reliable despite the odd niggle so I have not needed them since. I'm gonna ask my insurance co. to see what they charge.
