I have just made an order on play.com for the first time. Looking through there small print i notice they are based in Jersey. Does this mean I will have to pay import charges/taxes for my £40 PS3 game?
Has anyone else ordered high(ish) value items from play.com and had any problems?

Jersey and other islands form the grouping known as the Channel Islands. The defence of all these islands is the responsibility of the United Kingdom. However, Jersey is not part of the UK, nor the European Union, but is rather a separate possession of the Crown, comparable to the Isle of Man. Jersey belongs to the Common Travel Area.

You won't have to pay any tax due to the crown owning the islands... Enjoy your game

Cheers guys, that put my mind at rest.

Got Call Of Duty 4 coming from them as Amazon stated it wouldn't be released until tomorrow whereas Play have already sent it.

Looking forward to getting it as it's my first game for the PS3, just waiting on the HDMI lead I ordered on Tuesday!

Can anyone else recommend and good games. Ghost Recon advance warfighter 2 or Half life the orange box? Are they any good?

alright mate you have made an excellent choice withcall of duty 4! another fantastic game is resistance: fall of man. i have had my PS3 for about 7 months now and i play on resistance quite a lot. another decent game to look out for is haze, not sure of the release date but its soon.ghost recon is also a good game.
i take it you lke first person shooters! its really the main type of game i play, but i do have a soft spot for racing games. i have motorstorm which is good and colin McRae DiRT which is great.
do you play online much? if so resistance is a fantastic online game andi think call of duty is gonna be massive!

good choice of colour by the way!

Cheers for the reply.
Yeah i am in to fps and racing games. I was looking at Formula one championship edition as well. i have GT5 on pre-order although it won't be released until march I know.

The biggest thing that's annoying me at the moment is the HDMI lead I ordered on Tuesday, I WANT IT NOW!
I'm using the crappy lead that came with the console and the game demos and Blu Ray movies look very grainy. I'm hoping that CoD4 and the lead come tomorrow.

I was in tesco yesterday looking at their games for the PS3 and to my suprise they were cheaper than a majority of the online stores. I think I might have to get myself back there and pick up.

By the way, when I connect using my HDMI lead I should notice a significant improvement in picture quality shouldn't I?

And of course blue is the best colour

If Tesco were already cheaper for some things then maybe have a look at this site here if you hadn't already heard of it?

Tesco Jersey

Tesco have a special website based in Jersey so that they can charge cheaper prices for the same tax reasons as Play.

Have to agree that Resistance is awesome, I don't have a PS3 but utilise my mates as often as possible!!

I have played Formula 1, I am not a big fan, never have been of the Formula one games to be honest, I refer NFS and that type of racing game.

the HDMI lead WILL make a huge difference! i pre ordered GT5 when i got my PS3 so i have been waiting ages but its gonna be amazin! F1 is ok graphically but i got bored with it, i think TOCA race driver will be a better game when it comes out and gran turismo 5 looks awesome. a few other games might interest you when they are released - medal of honour airbourne, army of two, brothers in arms and assassins creed. they all look brilliant, i want them all but just dont have time to play them! deffinately getting haze though

Motorstorm is a must if you into you racing games. F1 is very good if you like F1 Sims, I do so I brought it. There are demos on the network for all of these games though so download them and try them out

Cant recommend any FPS as I hate playing them on a console, to fiddly with the sticks IMHO I always use my PC with mouse for those as it is much more natural. I have my PS3 for Racing and sports games such as PES2008 which is very very good!

I am currently waiting for Colin Mcrae to turn up and Assasins Creed in a week or two as that is supposed to be awesome. Had a good chat with a cheif developer at Sony and he assures me its one of the best hes played in a while.

Just got my HDMI lead this morning. Bloody hell what a difference! Just trying to decide between 720p and 1080i. I think 1080i looks better but not sure on whether it causes ghosting as it can't process quick enough. Or maybe im imagining it!

Call of duty still hasnt arrived yet, hopefully tomorrow. But ive just ordered Formula One (new) for £14.99 off an amazon seller.
Bargain if you ask me.

As for the demos, I have downloaded and played the simpsons, F1, Ghost recon 2 and GT-HD. All of which are great.

Overall I'm well pleased with the system, just want a pukka game to arrive

Yeah, the only downside though is that he is a brand new seller with no feedback. But amazon protect you and refund you if there are problems.
Suppose everyone has to start somewhere.
