Did you hit anything else?

Been through the worry myself but luckily it wasn't my fault and it came to nothing. From what I was told at the time it could be a good percentage but not double or anything.

Sorry to hear about your accident. At least everyone is ok.

Re: the price, it's going to be affected a bit, the main thing will be whether or not you lose a lot of no claims bonus! How much did you apply to your car? and if it was over 4 years, did you protect it?

Theres loads of things you have to consider when having a crash and making an insurance claim. Depends how old you are, how many no claims you have, how many times you've claimed before, how much your excess is etc? And in any situation, unless you have a protected no claims, your insurance will most definately go up. Might be like a 20-30% increase with a higher excess for example.

If you can afford it try and get their car done privately then save up and get yours done too. It helps in the long run, just not the short run

Sorry to hear about your crash Natasha. I know how you feel since I had a similar crash last year - I hit a car from behind at low speed which meant I needed a new front bumper, foglight and headlight, a wing pulled back out, and also knackered an alloy from hitting the pavement in the crash, whilst the other guy needed a new back bumper.

It's just one of those things that happens, there's no point worrying about it(and I know that's coming from me who got in a MASSIVE state about my own crash). But ultimately all that matters is that you and everyone else is ok, cars can be fixed people can't always be.

I've just had a look at my insurance, and the last time before my crash it was £553 with 2 years ncb. I obviously lost that, and when I came to renew a few months later it was £693 so 25% increase. I'm not sure what you were expecting it to go up by? That is still a bit, but certainly not double or anything.

Also to note and echoing Chris' comments, insurance premiums do go up every year on a like for like basis too, so £140 isn't bad at all when you consider losing NCB and an uplift for inflation/market. Hopefully it will get sorted quickly and won't cost you too much Tasha.
