Hi all , just a quick question how long does it take for your to properly loosen up ,its brand new 234 miles on the clock and feels really tight and stiff still. I want to start putting my foot down a little bit but dont want to do any damage

I toom it easy for the 1st 1,000 miles going through the rev range but not thrashing the doodhas off it. It really started to loosen up etc after a few thousands miles, when I did my Pro Drive day (wayyyy back when they came out)

Don't worry too much about driving it gently (ok don't kill it by red lining it all the time!), the engines are 'run in' as they are made.

It will continue to loosen up for a while though, only a thousand miles or so I would say made much difference in terms of performance / tightness, but the economy improved continually maybe upto about 3000 miles. My car has 7,500 miles on it now and it is revving very freely

Well......
Running in is not really nessesary but I took it easy for the first 500 miles.

Bedding in is another matter.......

I hated my car but since it's hit the 6,000 mile mark the car has come alive??

Weird or what??

It is weird and there does seem there's quite a difference between the engines in the ST's, just from comments on the site, quite a few have had sluggish ones. I doubt mine will loosen up anymore, all downhill now

weel today i did a little bit over the speed limit but by accident some guy in a polo cut me uin when i was changing from the inside lane to middle i was only doing 65mph at the time until this k**b cut me up and made me swerve to not hit him ,
Yes i know i am a hot head and that got the better of me so rather than forget it i put my little right foot down and went for him , soon caught up and gave him bit of my mind and told him that indicators where buklt and on a car for a reason

Not weird at all because when I did the Pro Drive day thats roughly how many miles mine had done and it, as you said, seemed to come alive.

Dont forget the brakes and tyres need wearing in for about 500 miles

Dont wanna go slamming the anchors on and warping the discs.

I personally went easy for 1000 miles
