Just wondered if anybody has had the Ford bluetooth hands free + voicecontrol fitted after they had bought their ST. I opted not to pay the £250 for it & am regretting it as I need to make phonecalls whilst I'm on the move.

Have been to Ford who say its not possible after the sale & advise me to get a parrot kit fitted, which I would prefer not to do.

I know the older lower spec Ford models from about year 2000 onwards had everything in place so you were able to spec it up & am wondering if this is still the case.

It is possible to retro fit Bluetooth, your dealer is talking through his anus (as usual)
The connectors are already in place on ST so you have to buy the module and the microphone and the microphone lead.
The module connects to the back of the radio, the mic lead into the module and the microphone mounts onto the driver's upper A post trim.
Your parts dept will be able to give you the finis codes and prices for the parts which you will easily be able to fit yourself.
The only downside is that you will have to get the dealer to reconfigure the GEM module to recognise the blutooth module.

You could also keep your eye out for a MKII Focus or Mondeo that has it fitted that's being broken up as all the parts are identical.

it is good but a Parot kit would do the job just as well and cost you a lot less

Im getting the parrot installed in my ST for £150 supply & install, my mate works for them

already have it ,came with the car when bought it new from ford

I know parrot kits are good as ive used one before in a friends car but i just dont like the idea of something mounted on my dash, no matter how discreet it is.
Im a bit funny when it comes to my , i like everything to be genuine

yeah mine is the one that is built into the stereo , think it cost 250 extra

is there anyway of getting peoples names to come up on the screen instead of peoples numbers... cos i cant remember everyones number nor their voices lol... so im just sat there half the time thinking "who the hell am i talking to" LOL!

really wish Ford made a manual for this.

Maybe it depends on the phone you have, some will send the name data but others won't.
i have a samsung z500 and it doesnt display the names in the car.

Oh..... I've only ever had numbers come up and I assumed it was the only way of working..... but now I have a new phone it will be interesting to see what happens...... somebody ring me!!!

How do you know if your car has the bluetooth??? I got the car thru my dad whos in the car trade but he wasn't sure

Look for a microphone on the right hand a piller.

and a phone sign on the cd player , the micro phone will be on right hand pillar looks like a dome shap thing sticking out

I have looked at what has been said here and decided to make my own inquiries. The jury is still out. I am convinced it can be done as per the posting from Mr Brain, but time will tell. has anyone succeeded yet in fitting the OEspec bluetooth?
