This is my first post so please be patient.

I have a 1997 16 valve zetec Fiesta. The central locking is playing up! Sometimes the doors won't open at all from outside with the key, or from inside. At other times I can open the doors from inside but I have to climb through the boot to get in!! It corrects itself for weeks and then suddenly goes again. Sometimes when I try to unlock the car, I hear the CL recycling over and over again.

I have considered removing the fuse but, the handbook tells me that the central locking shares a fuse with the back window heater so , at this time of year, it's not really an option.

Please does anyone have any suggestions what I can do to correct this? I'm getting some funny looks climbing in and out through the window or boot!!

firstly change the battery in your key.

Thanks for your reply. The key is not a remote one. It has always had to be inserted into the door lock.
