Hi, was wondering if anybody has problems getting into 1st gear, I can get 1st when stationary no problems, but if the car is creeping I cannot get 1st at all without forcing it and making a metallic scraping noise. Also my digital display usally reads with a full tank of petrol around the 350 milestill empty , just filled it up and it says 235 to go.

Any thoughts.

No John, don't get problems putting in first while rolling slowly, defo don't get metallic noises.

Maybe get it in for a check-up before it gets worse. How old is your car?

9000 miles, it will be well run in and subtle enough, so as i said, maybe take it in for a looksee before things get worse.

As for the trip, i have never really trusted mine since the one morning when i got into my car and had to turn the heated screen on to defrost the ice, and the display read 9 degrees C.

Yes Lee, but Johns has 9000 miles on the clock, so should be well run in.

hm I have never noticed this either... however, it is quite rare I would go into first whilst still moving... maybe in a traffic jam? Sounds like it is worth taking into your local dealer for a look, like Kev said.

With the fuel guage and range, assuming it is full as normal, have you been booting it? mine fluctuates dependant upon my recent mpg, although never had it as low as 235 on the clock, I have often only obtained that from a tank..

When I bought the car everything was fine, only after a few weeks could I not select any gears at all. A new clutch was put in the car outwith the warranty, paid for by the original dealer that sold me the car. Previous owner must have been a little on hashy side.

Please tell me I am not going mad not being able to get 1st when coasting very slowly, I am wondering if when Ford did the clutch they have screwed something up or is there other damaged which they have missed or not old me about.

They did say that the clutch was goofed and that there were signs of overheading on the plates. Hopefully it just a linkage that needs adjusted or something simple like that but, would is not be a mesh problem as it only happens when the car is moving.
