Hi guys, Ive done a search on this already but couldnt find anything.

With the frosty mornings ive noticed a problem with the electric folding mirrors on my ST. It would appear that the mirrors stick due to being frozen & then they go all out of sync when they eventually move. Meaning they stay either folded in or fold to far out, either way there not suitable for driving

So i phoned my ford dealer today & they said the electric folding feature cannot be turned off. So i was wondering if any of you guys have the same problem? Oh & ive had a look through the handbook & cant see anything stating wheither this can be turned on & off either

Your help would be appreciated

Cheers, Paul

Can not be turned off as far as i know. I had a problem with mine a few months back, (offside mirror would fully unfold but would try to unfold futher which mate an awful noise everytime i unlocked the car) i asked for the folding feature to be turned off via the ECU so i could use the car for a long weekend i had planned and leave it in to get fixed when i got back. Apparently it can't be done though.

did have this problem with mine everytime it was frost on the car! the say it was due to the water going solid between the system and therefore doesn't stop and go all the way! never find a solution about it!

Yeah mine went doolally a couple of days ago, was really cold though so I put it down to them being frozen and waited a bit and when the car warmed up they were fine.
They don't put "could fail in cold weather" against the brochure pic of the mirrors though do they

Just a suggestion, it may not any good, but... are the powerfold mirrors on a fuse by themselves? It should say in the manual somewhere what is off each individual fuse. If it's the case that they are on a fuse with nothing else then that could be one way of disabling them.

Hi Chris,

I was considering on pulling the fuse to stop them from folding. However its not been as frosty lately now so i've left them working. It would appear that my right hand mirror is still playing up even though its not been as frosty & the left hand one makes a creaking noise

The cars going for its first service on thursday & the garage are going to have a look at the mirrors for me.

Thanks for all your replys guys

Cheers, Paul
