I picked up my new Zetec S on saturday and have the new Sony CD system fitted.
I remember Dave_T_ST saying that you get premium speakers with the new sony cd. I have noticed on my new one however, that the sound from the rear speakers is far inferior than the front ones. It is obvious that the front ones are the uprated ones but i am unsure about the rears.

Is there anyway to check these myself as the dealer i bought the car from is 80 miles away and im unsure whether my local dealer will sort the problem for me?
Is it even possible for the factory to make such a mistake?

just ring up and ask them if they come with rated fitted speakers in the back and front

did u check if each speaker give the same sound between back and front? cos there on the stereo u can chose if u want more sound in the front or back or equal between all four!

yeah i have tried that. i played a song though them all 4 equal, just the fronts and just the backs. the front speakers are very powerful and obviously better than the standard ones i had in my ST, but the back ones sound crap in comparison to the front ones, like they are the standard speakers.
i have booked in the car for 730 this morning so will see what the techie guys have to say. either way i am not happy with the rears.

Well I took it into my local dealer earlier today and they told me that the speakers were the right and that the power output from them is as they should be. They told me that the reason for it being quieter in the back is because the cones are smaller as the housing for the speakers are smaller. Does this sound right or just them trying to fob me off?

don't if they try to fob u off but though the speaker in the front and back were the same must be someone on the site who know about it

thought the speakers front and back were 5"x7" so dont know wot to say to help mate , good luck let us know wot the outcome is
