Hey guys my ST's done just over 10000 miles and the front tyres already need changing...the car is not ragged or been taken on the track. has anyone else had to change after this short amount of time...ive booked it into ford tomorrow to check camber and tracking before tyres are changed! (its the insides of the tyres so unlikely to be due to pressure which i check reguarly). rears are like new which is to be expected

ive done about 8000 miles on a set of T1R's which are soft treads which i think is really good considering i still got a bit of tread left too. It's common mate, the Pirelli Pzeros which come standard on an ST are terrible tyres.

yep I agree that the Pzero are poor, no grip on wet/greasy surface when wanting to accelerate in 1st quite rubbish, okay ish in dry if your not driving too fast. Also noticed that they need warming up before you accelerate, think this is because they are a hard rubber (they grab on/off if you accelerate first thing in morning).
My car is June 07 so will see what miles I get over 12months although I do drive conservatively, I would expect 10-20,000 really that's what I did on my last car on michelins. One thing for sure is that I won't be putting PZero on when these expire, going to try Goodyear Eagle which seems to be high up in all tests I have read.

agree with the pirelli crap in wet and greasy no grip at all in first, second and even sometime in 3rd gears. they were good on dry and hot day and that about all. Did replaced them with Toyo T1-S and they were much better more grip on dry and wet and cheaper than the pirelli as well so its all good

I would recommend Goodyear Eagle F1s from my own experiences, I intend to fit them when my tyres need replacing.

It seems that, generally, the Fiesta ST has a camber angle issue. I bought my ST (facelift 55 plate) second-hand and the front tyres were in hell of a state. There was barely any rubber left on the inside. And the rear tyres were much the same.

I later discovered that the previous owners had swapped the front tyres with the rear tyres when they noticed the tyres were wearing, so all four were well buggered!

So...I had new AVON tyres put on the car several months ago, and I took the car to Ford to have the camber angle sorted. I kept a continual eye on the tyres, but as is the nature with tyres, you won't really notice any wear until they've done quite a lot of mileage. Basically, my front tyres were going bald on the inside again. Ford (idiots!) had set the camber angle of my front tyres incorrectly - They had set the camber angle as 2 negative, when they should have been 2 positive. So now I have to pay for Ford's expensive mistake.

The rear tyres are fine, but the front tyres will certainly need frequent checks to make sure the tracking/angle is okay. So, it's another trip to the tyre shop next month...

You really don't want positive camber, a degree or so of negative helps the handling. Yes the inner edges of the tyres wear fairly quickly, but the problem isn't too bad as long as the pressures are kept up - and don't forget that the cold weater can knock 2-3 psi off the pressures set in the summer.

I've changed the front and back sets around at 10,000 miles, with about 4mm left on the fronts and the inner edges worn more - but not illegal.

I would recommend the T1R's as good tyre replacements. They are a little bit more expensive than the T1S's but the price difference is only an extra tenner or so. They both have the same soft tread, just the T1R's are also designed for the wet as well as warm weather. It's the best upgrade ive done to my ST and it makes a huge difference to the car's handling, just try now to wheelspin too much with soft treads otherwise they wear away quick.

I previously posted about my tyres and was going to swap the front and rear but decided against it.

I am now up to 8500 miles and tyres need changing fairly imminently! No unusual wear though, seems fairly even across the tyres.

I am looking at getting Avons I think they are the ZZ3s, have a good price for them, £120 for two fitted balanced etc and tracking thrown in for free

Avon = ditch finders in my past experience. The slightest bit of moisture and I was struggling for grip:-( White lines were scary lol!
