Hi All

Every now and then I hear a noise, i think it's an engine noise but not 100% sure. It doesn't happen alot, only a few times. this is what happens.

Yesterday I was sitting at the lights and a Zetec S was sitting next to me so I done him off the lights , then I was driving normally again and I could hear this whining noise, as I was going through the gears this noise repeated everything I did i.e. if I put my foot down to go faster then the noise got a tiny bit louder n faster but it was a low pitch noise. It didnt sound to bad but an annoying noise but after i kept on driving the noise disappeared.

as i said it only happens every now and then but seems to occur 1/5 times i foot it.

Hm I think what you are referring to is the same thing that I and quite a few others have experienced. If I remember correctly it is something to do with when you give it some, the power steering pump makes some noise. I think a few mentioned that when they topped up the power steering fluid, the noise stopped occurring.

Well only whining noise ive had in my fiesta ST was when i needed my wheel bearings replaced. The noise seemed to get louder and louder as the weeks went by. Could be that.

talking about giving it some i get a waft of like a burning type hot smell permeating from the underside exhaust area when i get out of my st,saying that its nowt to worry about.

alot of ehining noise comes from the injectors the duratec just has noise injectors but it probably is not a problem but if you feel their is or want some reassuranc ehtne take it to your dealer get them to have a look at it

When my has a bit of stick the Power steering pump doesn't like it at all and starts whinning.

After doing my 2nd 0-60 run at Silverstone last year i thought i had serious probs; noisy steering from the engine bay and a strange smell, but after cooling down it was fine.

No probs since, (touch head).

And don't knock the Zetec S, we have two of them

My engine is nosiey to. when it warm it make this high pich sqeek now and then, on and off, been told by some one at ford its the water pump they all did this on alot of mondeos this engine was in, it wont ever go it will just get on your tits, so fink im guna get them to change it(warrenty!!! )

mine has a tappy noise when its ticking over. not a loud noise but i notice it.

i wont worry then lol
